My girls don't play together!

HI,
My twins are 18 months old, and STILL don't play together!! They love to play with me and my hubby, but don't play with each other at all! They have no problem stealing the binky, bottle or blankie from one another, but beyond that, they don't interact. They seem to enjoy being 'around' the other, just not actually interacting. Do your twins play together? When did they start? They also don't really acknowledge the presence of other children their age or babies. They do like to play with my older daughter who is 7 sometimes....
What do I do? Is this normal?

This is completely normal. babies play side by side until about 2.5 or 3.

 

:acute: What she said! My guys are over 2 and are just now starting to play together rather than along side each other. And their playing really only consists of running around and around and around and around the house chasing each other.

 

I think it's supposed to happen around 3. My kids are the oddballs though as they started really interacting around 17 months.

 

as others have mentioned, parallel play is totally normal for this age. my girls have also only started really playing with each other recently. as for other kids, they usually still ignore them (unless one of them takes a toy ).

 

Yup, I agree...I would say that my two started to play together around age 2 and now at almost three sometimes they play together and sometimes they still do parallel play.

 

Mine still don't ..they just turned two.
