I haven't heard too much about these and recently got Enfamil's Enfagrow sample in the mail. It says it is for babies 10 months to 36 months. I am just wondering what you think of it and if you used a toddler formula. I am sure it is better than milk since it has more vitamins and minerals, but is it worth the extra money? I was kind of hoping to stop all the formula mixing soon, but not at the risk of my LO's health and well being.

No, I am not using it, nor did I with my oldest. Actually, I don't know anyone that used it.

It has more vitamins and minerals than milk, but I assume it's for babies who still need to put on weight and/or not eating all the essentials by 1 year of age.

I used Enfagrow when my twins were toddlers. But I live in an area where we only had the choice of raw milk or ultrapasterized tetrapak milk. That's why I choose to continue to give them formula. They were on Enfagrow from 12 months to 24 months.

I agree--not necessary for most kids when you have access to pasteurized whole milk. We may end up using it for DS (or continuing with formula) to help with his growth.

I used it with DS because I worried about his intake, he's a picky eater and in the 20th percentile for heigh and weight...haven't decided if I'm going to use it with the girls or not (they are 90th percentile and so far eat pretty much everything I give them :)). DH thought it was just a money grab but it made me feel like he was at least getting something balanced so for my peace of mind I think it was worth it. I stopped when he stopped taking bottles at 18 months.

We just started it this month. We're using Good Start 2 (9-24 months). It's a bit cheaper and I am in no hurry to start them on cow's milk. Also, for traveling purposes, it's much more convenient than cow's milk.

Its really just a ploy for the formula companies to get more money. If you want more vitamins give childrens vitamins and if you want more calories then fortify it with carnation instant breakfast or make a yogurt smoothie. Maybe for travelling it has some advantages, but I just bring empty sippy cups and get milk when we stop for meals.

This is kind of how I feel. I never used it but I did use carnation which has all kinds of vitamins and minerals in it too and just recently since they are closer to 2 got the OK from Dr to start them on the gummy vitamins. I think if it will give you peace of mind to use it then use it but I always felt that your kids should be learning to eat a variety of foods with vitamins and minerals in them and not learning to "drink" their meals as they begin the 2nd year and then you can substitute where you need to:) Also for traveling so many fast food places offer milk now that we just do empty sippies and fill with the milk as well...or any gas station sells those small containers too:)

Thanks everyone, this has been helpful. DS is also on the lower percentile for weight and I was thinking of giving it to him, but he is so done with formula that it is a battle getting enough ounces in him (we are lucky to reach double digits daily). I might have to play around with it. I really like the idea of the carnation, it might be a different taste and hopefully he will like it. I will definitely try that.
