The kids and I went out shopping yesterday and I came home feeling like a circus side show attraction. lol Here are some of the comments I got yesterday...

Boy, your hands are full!

Are they ALL yours? God Bless you honey!

Are they all your children? OMG!

Awww at least you got one boy out of all the kids. Poor guy he's out numbered.

Are they twins? I was asked this about four times. They were both in their infant seats and the one time I was pushing them in the snap & go.

Are they identical? When I said I didn't know she replied..."Why not? Didn't the doctor tell you?" UGH! I felt like saying no I just forgot to ask.

My one little girl is in an aqua blue seat so when I put her in a blue sleeper people think she's a boy. No biggie. I understand since they are still so little. But in one breath the lady said...."Are they twins? Aww a boy and girl. Are they identical?"

I came home and called my friend and we were cracking up. She said she's happy she doesn't shop with me because it would take too long because I'm stopped so much.

 

Gotta love it! I get: you have your hands full, boy I bet they keep you busy, they're not twins, right? Let's see....do they run in your family? etc etc... They take one look at the boys-who are dressed the same, just that 3 inches separate them, and they think they are not twins-because one is shorter than the other. Or their hair is lighter. And they both have glasses now-so that really messes people up! LOL! I just smile and keep on walking....

 

I forgot the comment do they run in your family. I got that one too! lol I was also asked if I could tell them apart. After reading some stuff on here I guess that's a real question. To me they look so different but they are exactly the same to everyone else.

At first I was bothered by people asking a million and one questions but now I just find it funny.

 

After a while you'll stop looking people in the face and smiling when you walk by. You learn to just keep your eyes straight ahead and keep walking so less people stop you.

 

If I hear someone say, "Look. Twins," I speed up and try to walk the other way. Sometimes you just want to shop and go home. I had a woman ask me if they were born at the same time. I said they were a minute apart, and her response? "Oh, they're twins!" Wow.

 

:laughing: Too funny! I went shopping with a friend last night and she couldn't get over all the comments, stares, etc. I usually try to give a quick smile and keep walking. Of course some people are quite persistent and still come up to you to talk! :headbang:

 

Actually, I kind of enjoy all the comments. Of course, our boys are adopted and I LOVE to mess with people. For example, when they ask me how "big" I got during my pregnancy, I say, oh, I was the size I am now (I'm a size 8). They just can't figure it out sometimes! :laughing:

It is funny, though, how people act like they have never seen twins. I mean, I know there are lots of them out there, so I guess I don't see why it's such a novelty. But then again, DH has 7 sets of twins in his family and some of my best friends in college were twins, so maybe I'm just used to it.

I was at target today for a few quick things and got no less than a half dozen "boy you have your hands full" and one "aww how cute, oh my gosh are they twins" I agree with perfecting the "I'm busy looking for something" eyes down, fast walking approach!
I'm really not looking forward to the looks and comments I'll get when I start showing a little more with this next one. I can already picture the pity looks :laughing:

 

I do have to say that I love it when the little kids get excited to see twins. I had a little 4 year old girl going crazy because I had "2" babies and they look the same.

 

I totally agree. My friend came over with her three year old little girl. She asked if she could "pet" one of the babies. It was so cute. Then I went in to get the other baby and she saw me and said "theres ANOTHER baby???? Can I hold that one???" She was so cute. The other day at Target a little girl ask me why I had two babies. She was so cute and curious. Kids can say some really cute things. Of course my family was walking into a restaurant the other night and some teenager goes "awww a baby can I touch it?" Really...touch it? to ask to touch and then calling it an it too. Um, yeah no. My DH was carrying the carriers and he kinda let out this chuckle like is she for real, said no, and kept walking.

 

I live in a part of town with a lot of Hispanic people- my favorite comment was a little girl who said "look mama- Dos bebes!"

My friend was out with them and a mother said to her son "look at the twins". He replied "that's weird" :laughing: the mom was so embarrassed! I figure it's a little weird- otherwise she wouldn't have pointed it out.

 

I have two boys and I often get asked "a boy and a girl?". Um, no. They are always wearing boy clothes and they are identical. I think it's strange that people assume they are one of each. I don't even know which of the babies they think is the girl.

 

I can have my girls in pink and purple with butterflies and flowers, and since they're car seats are green, I get "boys?" all the time. People aren't actually looking, I swear! :laughing:

 

I don't generally get aggravated when people call the girls boys. We have a blueish/green seat and if I have the baby dressed in blue too then everyone calls her a boy. When I had my DD2 I had a pink car seat with a pink stroller and dressed her very girly. People still would mistake her for a boy! Now that's what I don't get that. I agree people just don't pay attention but with all that pink that is REALLY not paying attention. lol

 

I hate those comments. I always avoid eye contacts, put on unfriendly face, then..less comments haha
