    Hi There,

I am hoping to hear from any moms who had multiple C-Section before their twin pregnancy. Did it put you at any higher risk for complications? How long were you able to carry the babies. Any help would be greatly appeciated! My suspicion of twins was confirmed at my ultrasound today but I still have 3.5 weeks before I see my OB again...

    Thanks in advance!

Hi & congrats on your twins! I had two (100% elective) c-sections prior to my twins and had no issues whatsoever. My OB even tried to talk me out of my tubal - said that I ought to go ahead and have more kids (he's crazy). I'm sure every case is different, but I felt like I had the green light to have another child if we wanted one - and there is no way I would've done anything but a c-section. I have carried all three pregnancies to their scheduled c-section dates - DD 38+1 (waaay back in 2004 when it was kosher to schedule at 38 weeks), DS 39+3 and twins 38+5.

Good luck - you'll do great!

I have only had 1 c-section but the dr didn't seem concerned about it again with twins both times.

My twins were my 6th pregnancy, babies #6 & #7 (so I had 5 c-sections previous to the twins). I was 35 years old.

I have a two year old... I was 38 years old

I just had my 8th (YES, EIGHTH) c-section a week ago. I am 40 years old
This last pregnancy, I was referred to a High risk doctor due to my age, we did find that she had/has Down's syndrome and a complete AV Canal defect (heart defect).

I was cleared by the high risk doctor to have another baby if I so choose....he just said that as soon as I found out that I was pregnant, to get to his office so we could see where the placenta attached (make sure that is attached in a "good spot", not to scar tissue.

During the c-section a week ago, the high risk doctors decided to put me totally to sleep (no spinal) in case I would begin bleeding and need a hysterectomy, they would need to do life saving measures. I could have ended up in the ICU, needing MANY pints of blood due to blood loss......thankfully, none of that happened and this was the easiest recovery that I have ever had. The doctors were VERY concerned that after a uterus has carried so many babies, and had so many c-section, that the uterus might not clamp down after the baby is born, thus causing the bleeding and need for heroic measures. They even had 2 high risk doctors in the OR to do the delivery.....JUST IN CASE!!!!!

    Wow...8 C-Sections! I thought I was high with 4!

My concern is with the placentas as well, making sure they are not in the area of the previous scarring.

Did any of your doctors have any worries about uterine rupture? My three boys were all over 8 lbs (thus the C-Section need for me).

My age is a bit of concern for the doctor as well as I am 37. My last child had some very serious birth defects (heart, brain, vascular tumours) due to a rare disorder and prenatal stroke, so they were going to be keeping a close eye on me anyway. I still cannot decide what to do if my screening comes back positive. I am so leary about doing amnio, especially with 2 on board.
