It might not be as bad as you think. Just because you haven't done it - it sounds like you are expecting the worst. Just feed her a little earlier so she doesn't fall asleep at the bottle. Burp her - and if she seems tired - like zoning out, rubbing her eye, or yawning, put her down. Do you have any kind of mobile for her to look at? I put my boys down with the mobile on - give them their blankie and lovey. Sometimes Sam cries - whereas Luke doesn't. Sam sometimes needs to cry a little to fall asleep.

I agree with PP...also putting your daughter to bed with a bottle will cause tooth decay, i work in a dental office and its quite sad what the little children have to go through to fix all of their cavities from bottle mouth!

We feed our boys their bottle and burp them, THEN I change them into their night diapers and sleepsacks - that way they are roused up a bit before I put them down (although usually still drowsy) and the bottle isn't what is putting them to sleep. Also, we give them a pacifier and a lovey if they need it (some nights they go right off without either, but sometimes they need them).

I agree with PP. Just feed her a little sooner and then put her to bed with a "lovey" or "soothie". It might not be as bad as you think and the sooner you can break the habit the better:) Good luck!

A lovey is a little soft, fuzzy toy they can take to bed with them. Ours have a giraffe head and then a small piece of blanket coming off of them.

    Here is an example:

Most major stores have them - Wal-mart, Target, etc.

A soothie is a type of pacifier.

Our schedule is 6pm - dinner followed by bottle. 7pm - upstairs to change, listen to music and play quietly. 7:15 - babies in cribs awake after brief rocking. They get up at 6. So they go 12 hours without eating. If you are up to it, you might want to let them cry when you put them down.

This is the mobile that we have for both boys. http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=2341&e=detail&pcat=rainforest&pid=38346
They love it. They can watch the animals move around, or they stare at the light. And the music is nice and stays on for about 15 or 20 minutes. There is also a remote control. If they wake up earlier then we want to get up, we'll turn the mobile on for them and they'll either fall back to sleep or start playing in their crib.

As a previous poster mentioned, think about how you might want to handle the situation if they cry. Some parents like to go in and pat them a little and try a little shushing and then leave. We did the going in and "shushing", giving a pacifier, and patting for a while. Once we knew that they knew how to soothe themselves, we didn't go in at all anymore unless we thought something was wrong (like a poopy diaper or maybe caught on the side of the crib). At that point, if we went in at all, it made it worse - they would just want us to help them to sleep. Do your little ones wake up in the middle of the night and you have to help them back to sleep? If not, then they probably know how to soothe themselves.
