Babies R Us trade in event

So BRU is having a trade in event right now...I think this is the last week. Basically they say bring in any old stroller, high chair, car seat, etc and get 25% off a new one. We have had our eye on the Baby Trend Navigator since it came out and think this may be our chance to get one at a price we can afford.

My question is this: can we take in a cheapy umbrella stroller to get the 25% off or does it have to be a heavy duty one? The reason I ask is that my Dad bought us a tandem stroller when the twins were born. I hate it. I want a side by side stroller that can house the car seats. We don't want to trade in our tandem stroller as it costs about 170 brand new and we'd only get like $65 off the new stroller. It's still in great condition and has honestly only been used a few times for doctor's appointments.

Does anybody know the ins and outs of the program?

 

Check their site because it does have to be a brand like Graco or Evenflo. There are a bunch but I don't know which brands they accept off the top of my head. I don't think the cheapo umbrella strollers for $20 count. If you check the site it will list all the brands and the items - like crib, car seat, stroller, etc.

The trade-in event ends on Sept 19. I have an old single Evenflo stroller thats ready for the garbage. I was thinking of taking this in and getting the coupon so I could buy a side-by-side double. They have the cheap Jeep side-by-side. The babies got some cash when they were born and with the coupon and cash it would only cost me $15. Or $30 with the BRU warrenty which is a huge plus because if it breaks I get my money back.

 

I called earlier to ask about the brand thing. It can be any brand that you bring in but you can only purchase from the participating brands. But I forgot to ask about the stroller thing. *whoops*

 

This is what happens when you are sleep deprived. I totally read their info wrong the other day. You're correct. The new item has to be from the list of participating brands but the used item being brought in can be any brand. Maybe they will let you use the umbrella stroller then??

 

I have done the trade in thing. I trade in DS's Snugride car seat and gotten a 25% on the double stroller(Graco Quatto Racer). I also combine a 20% off baby gear coupon. So I think I end up paying like 190 for the stroller and is taxes included. It seems to be a great deal and worked out for me. Keep in mind you do need to make a purchase the same day you trade in. So you will need to have money and something in mind before you do the trade.

 

Thanks! We're wanting the Baby Trend Navigator double stroller. Unfortunately it's been discontinued. I'm so sad! Our store has 2 of them left and the floor model. We're going on Thursday. Really hoping they still have it or we may be driving to Oklahoma City to get it!

 

I don't think it really matters, they just want you to spend your money there. I brought in a broken swing! But then realized when I got there that there were lots of sales on and it was cheaper to not use the 20% off credit. I just bought the regular sales item instead.

 

I got really excited about this then realized they probably don't have this event at BRU in Canada. Then I checked and lo and behold they DO have it but the event ended on August 29th. ARGH! Just wanted to share that frustration with my fellow Canucks...
