I'm first time mom so I'm not sure.my boy has been refusing bottles for month.he starts getting fussy at night. Tonight, he cried because he's hungry but totally refused bottle. I looked into his mouth. His lower gum got 2 bumps on the front. I rubbed it. It felt like teeth under.he loved it when I rubbed his gum. He laughed so hard.I spoon fed him his breast milk. He drank like 20cc then felt asleep. Then I gave him bottle he took it.lately his head is a bit warm. He doesn't have fever though.he's not fussy all day though.he plays a lot. But he cries some times during the day. I notice he cries at night, but not that bad.2 weeks ago, his doc said its not teething.we gave him 2 times 0.2 ml tylenol genetic tonight. It didn't seem help. I still don't know if its teething or not. But if it is, what should I do? Please give me some advice. Thanks

It sure sounds like teeth to me... especially if you can see the teeth under the gums and he gets relief when you rub them. The pain often seems to be worse at night.. probably just like you'd notice pain more when you're trying to sleep. I'd try giving him a frozen washcloth and/or a mesh feeder with some frozen fruit in it to gnaw on and see whether that makes him feel a little bit better. When dosing tylenol always make sure to give the full amount required as I have heard that 1/2 doses are not effective.

Teething can come and go over a long period of time before the teeth actually break through, so it's quite possible your doctor didn't see any evidence of teething 2 weeks ago, but he could be feeling it now. It's not a fun stage! But fortunately they don't remember it.

Have you tried teething gel? I personally like the Hyland's. Also, you can let him chew on things, like the teethers you put in the fridge. Some people swear by the teething tablets, although we didn't feel like they helped much.

Teething is a miserable business, so just do what you can and ride it out. You won't know for sure if it was teething until you actually see the teeth, but it sounds like it to me. My guys started with symptoms at about 3.5 months, then got their first tooth right around 6 months (one just before and the other 2 weeks later).

Definitely sounds like teething! That can put them off bottles and make them fussy or even develop a low grade fever. I agree with Jen's advice about the frozen fruit in mesh feeding bags (my LOs love that and it seems to give them relief) and Tylenol during the day or at night when they seem particularly fussy. Good luck!

He cried a lot and couldn't sleep last night. I gave him 0.6ml tylenol and he slept till this morning. I called doc office. The nurse told me he's teething.I only can give him tylenol when he's super fussy only. We gave him orajel today. He acted weird at first but then finished his bottle. That's is the good sign.it looks like he got 4 of them, 2 top and 2 bottom. But the bottom ones look sored. So I guess those will come out first. Thanks ladies! I hope it will over soon. I need to fatten my daughter up so she could have extra fat for the teething coming up.she is like 2 weeks- a month behind him.

We are also going through the teething process and I am just curious to know how long does it take until all the teeth come in and they start eating well again?

I think it depends on the baby. Mine never stopped eating, but were very fussy, chewing, up a lot at night. They started with symptoms at 3.5 months, and the tooth didn't appear until almost 6 months. They started again at about 7 months - Michael got a tooth pretty quickly this time and now have three of his four top teeth. Poor Gabriel is still working on the top ones over a month later. He seems to take longer to teeth and to suffer more from it than his big brother. They stopped being so fussy a couple of days after the tooth first broke through.
