Everything goes in the mouth

So, the girls are going to be one in a couple of weeks and they are STILL putting everything and anything into their mouths. I tried to take them to the library today, and let them crawl around and explore. But all they wanted to do was put things in their mouths...dirty things...yuck! I'm alright with it at home, but am really hoping this phase will be over sometime soon.

What have you all experienced? How much longer does this last???

 

It really depends on the kid. My son is going to be 3 in November, and I am still constantly telling him to take stuff out of his mouth.

 

I'm wondering this too! My first never put anything in his mouth. My twins are horrible about it - especially my boy twin. He really can't wear all the cute overalls I have for him because the fronts all end up soggy!

 

My LOs put everything in their mouths too and I don't see an end in sight any time soon...sorry I can't be of any help but these are my first!! Eternal vigilance, I suppose...

 

ditto this - my son was almost 3 and a half and it took a nasty case of infected fingernails causing impetigo on his face to cure him of chewing on EVERYTHING!

 

I wish I could say that it stops...but my JUST turned 2 year old son STILL puts stuff in his mouth! It drives me nuts!

 

Sorry - mine are 16 mos and one still does it. The other NEVER put anything in her mouth - weird.
