They were super excited and unconcerned with me leaving. I'm positive that I'm having a much harder time adjusting than they are. They are in the same class, their teacher is a twin herself, and she had them seated 3 kids apart so they can see each other but not distract each other with chit-chat. :good: The gal at the office told me that there are 4 sets of twins in K this year at our school.

Today is boys only so only half of the class was there and they will only attend a half-day today. They have another half-day on Friday with boys only and then next week is full-time and all students. And yes, it's the first week of August because someone thought having extra time off during the school year and being off in June & July was the best plan. I disagree but aside from homeschooling, this is the only option currently available (the local private school started last Thursday).

It's always harder for us than for them. I remember the first day of pre-k my kids barely even said good-bye to me, I expect first day of Kinder to be the same. I'll be the one crying in the parking lot.

Wow, thats a different way of doing it, I have never heard of boys only/girls only start. I wonder why they do that? Also neat to start so early in Aug. Our schools don't have air conditioning so I think that would be too hot for our kids in Aug. How did they do?

    Debid:

Hang in there! Hugs to you!

I cried every day after drop-off for the first week of preschool last year (3 mornings a week) and I'm certain that I will be a weepy mess when it is our time for Kindergarten, too. As adults, we realize truly what a milestone it is, when the bulk of our kids days are spent with "teachers" not parents or other care-givers.

Anyway, that sounds like a great way of "easing" into the school year (although I'm with you that early August seems WAY early).

Here's hoping for a GREAT school year for you, your boys and your family.

I thought we started early! (This coming Wed.) I am not 'down' with starting in early August. That's prime summer that we are losing! :(

I'll be crying with you on Wed!!!

The boy/girl thing is to cut the class size down for the first week and allow the teacher a bit more attention per child while they're learning the routine.

They did great! There were a couple of minor issues with too much independence (they tried to stay behind in the classroom and have their lunch there with the toys...) but they want to follow the rules so now that they know they must eat in the cafeteria, it's fine. They seem to be fitting in just fine with the other kids. I think their teacher is a good fit and they bounced out of bed this morning eager to get there and see everyone. Today is their first bus ride home (eek!)
