So I'm starting to think Hannah is a colicky baby:( I am calling the Ped tomorrow to rule out anything else but it seems we are headed in that direction from reading online about it.
Anyways, for the past few days she cries probably an hour around 11a or 1p and then between 7-9p she starts up again for close to 2-3 hours of crying:( Last night I fed her at 930 and she started up and cried until 1130 when Andy gave her her bottle and she knocked out for the night! The only thing that calms her is bouncing!
At first we thought it was gas/tummy trouble but I really don't think it is bc NOTHING calms her!
Anyways how did you deal with it? Any tips to try to calm her a little better?

We had to bounce those kids for hours, too. We found that dairy in my milk was a problem- it cleared up a lot of what we were about to call colic. After 5 days, it was miraculously MUCH, MUCH better!

My daughter (first one) was SSOOOOO Colicky. Started at two weeks old and lasted nearly six months. My daughter would cry from 3PM until about 1AM and it was like a light switch...you could set your watch by when it woudl "turn on" and off. Hers was due to Acid Reflux (which went undiagnosed until 3 months because of a stupid pediatrician). We switched formula several times in an attempt to find one that would work for her (Dr. also thought it was possibly a milk allergy but wasn't). Carnation was the best for her (I think the "comfort proteins" worked for her). Other than that, tight swaddles, swinging, rocking, bouncing, shooshing and patience with the crying is all that really helped. She would SCREAM and go completely RIGID. Nothing SOLVED it but time unfortunately for us. Good luck..I know how hard it can be. :youcandoit:

Gripe water, babywearing for a walk around the block, Good Start formula, white noise or sound machines. Good luck!!

It's horrible. All I can say is it ends when they are about 12 weeks ADJUSTED. Until then just manage it- it isn't going to go away.

    1. white noise (vacuum noise)
    2. bouncy seat that vibrates
    3. walking around
    4. HARD LIQUOR and ear plugs

The only thing that worked with our guy (screaming from 5 PM-2 AM every night) was the Miracle Blanket. The first night we put him in this (wish we would have found it sooner) he went right to sleep in his crib!! Needless to say, he napped and slept in it for the next few months  .

I would make sure that the pedi considers the possibility of acid reflux. Does she arch her back and cry during/after feedings? Does she seem more content sleeping on her stomach? Frequent spitting up or vomiting? Refusing to eat or only eating small amounts? My daughter had reflux and we found the best way to calm her was to put her up over our shoulder and rub her back. Swaddling also helps. If it's reflux, sleeping on an incline can bring tremendous relief. She was also on medication for a while but thankfully her case was not too severe and we were able to wean her off the meds after a few months. Now she is such a happy baby and she hardly cries at all! This could also just be a stage that unfortunately you'll have to wait out but I hope you get some relief soon and it wouldn't hurt to talk to your pedi about what might be going on and how you can best soothe her. Good luck!

Does she arch her back and cry during/after feedings? No, her tummy is tight and legs flex and then can be stiff straight....its not during feedings but sometimes starts after, but not always
Does she seem more content sleeping on her stomach? No, she actually hates to sleep on her tummy! Weird I know, I always gave the boys a nap a day on their bellies when I could watch them and she just wants to play!
Frequent spitting up or vomiting? None
Refusing to eat or only eating small amounts? She is breastfed so I don't know how much but she still eats 10 mins mostly on both sides. She definitely does not refuse to eat hahaha!!!

I'm really hoping maybe its an extended "witching hour" bc she doesn't do it everyday...I would think with colic it would be everyday right?!

Ours were both colicky and the only thing that helped was babywearing and taking them for drives. Once they learned how to nap it was better because they were so fussy that they were chronically overtired.

Here is what helped our colicky boys:

    1) Boiron Cocyntal vials for colic (I swear by these things! Started buying boxes in bulk from Amazon)
    2) swaddle baby up tight
    3) place in a vibrating bouncy seat in dark bathroom lit only with a night light
    4) turn on the tub water nearly full blast

That bathroom/tub trick worked for us 90% of the time. The sound of the rushing water was a relaxing white noise for them. The first time I tried it they stopped screaming within 1 or 2 minutes and were totally konked out asleep within 5 minutes!

    Good luck!

My kids didn't have colic, but *I* did. And boy the stories I heard... I do know my parents said the only thing that worked was getting in the car and driving. As soon as we got moving-I was out like a light. And I do believe this was in the middle of the night. Probably not much help... Good luck!
