My Lo's are 17 months, and my DD pee's whenever I take her diaper off. A friend suggested putting her on a potty after I take her diaper off to see if she is interested in potty training.

For those of you that have been through potty training, did you train both babies at the same time and how many potties did you have?

    Thanks!!!

I started with 4... but they are the $4 variety from IKEA, its a one-piece style that are stackable. If i had a different type that was more expensive and wasn't able to stack I might have just had 1...

I would definitely try to catch her in the act and see if she's ready. my boy did that after naps, and we just took him to the toilet at that age. we are in the midst of training now, and I do like being able to have 2 separate potties, though I guess the point is to eventually get them to go on the toilet...

I did train together and had 2 portable seats, othewise they would have fought over who was going to sit on it.

I'm in the middle of training and I have two potties plus two portable potty seats. Right now DS likes to sit on the potty but won't do anything and DD is in undies except for nap and bedtime.

I haven't started yet, but about to. I will most likely do one at a time as one has medical issues and most likely is not ready. They are 17 months. I do have a friend that trained her twins together, had 2 potties and said she only needed 1. I would probably get 2. Good luck!

What do you guys think about just getting a seat for the big potty? To skip the little potty all together? What are the pros and cons of that idea?

This is what I want to do, but my guys are so small there's no way they could climb up on the potty by themselves yet. Of course, they're not ready to PT yet, so we may have some time for growth. I have 1 potty chair that I leave out for practice (they sit on it fully clothed while we use the bathroom, just to get the idea), and I will buy a padded potty ring very soon for the real deal.

I just talked to my sister (she's 11 years older and had kids a lot younger than me), and she never used either. She just set her son backwards on the toilet! Nice and cheap. :good:

I am thinking that we may skip the potty seats and just get the potty ring. The 2 bathrooms my kids would use are both small and don't really have room for a special potty seat. The Baby Bjorn potty seats get good reviews.
