I put both girls in big girl panties this morning and so far they've each had one accident. I'm hopeful that they'll start understanding now that they know what being wet feels like. How long do you make them sit on the potty before you allow them to get up if they haven't gone. They only want to sit there for about 15 seconds and I'm pretty sure that's not long enough to tell if they need to go. Maybe they just aren't ready yet. They seem excited about the sticker chart I made though and keep saying they want to put stickers on it.

I'd have them sit while you read a short book or sing a short song. So like a minute or so?

I never had my DD sit on the potty just to try. Instead I would catch her when she started to pee and then rush her to the potty so she could finish. For the first few days, she mostly just had accidents. But by day 3-4, she was running herself to the potty when she felt the urge. If it had been awhile (like over an hour) since she had gone, I'd ask her if she wanted to sit on the potty or remind her to tell me if she needed to go.

I'm slowly gearing up to PT DS, and he will sit on the potty and go through the entire potty routine, but just not actually go pee or poop on it. I could put him on every 10 minutes, and he would sit gladly do the whole routine, and then get down and pee on the floor 5 minutes later! I know I need to just get him naked or in undies and let him figure it out by trial and error like I did DD. I just haven't quite mentally prepared myself for all the accidents that I know will happen in the process.

As they are learning, they are going to have accidents. Give it a couple days and see if those accidents start going away at all, or if it stays the same. If the frequency of the accidents is going down, then you are making progress and they very well could be ready. If you don't see any progress in a couple of days, then I would probably just stop and hold off until they are more ready.

I never force my girls to sit on the potty. I always try to make it fun for them, with books, songs, dances to keep them distracted while they are on the potty. I never wanted it to be a stressful experience for any of us.

I also found that my girls did much better naked training (I kept them naked from the waist down) than they did having panties on. Not sure why, but it worked for us! The only downside to that is now I am pretty sure I have two Nudists on my hands. They never want to wear clothes anymore!!

    Good Luck!!

We did a sticker chart at our house, we also used m&m's for bribery. 1 for pee, and 2 for poop.
I repeated the phrase " pee goes in the potty" a billion times, I left the bathroom door open, light on etc and made it very accessible.
Anytime I went potty I asked if they wanted to go potty. "pee int he potty and I'll give you an M&M". They caught on FAST!!!
we had about 2 days of "accidents" and then no more. Its been a whole month now and we've just about discontinued the M&Ms. yay! LOL

We decided not to try day 2. I was frazzled by the end of the day and completely frustrated. That's not a good situation. We'll try again later. Thanks for the support!

I think you made a good choice, especially if you were frustrated. It will happen, and when they are ready it will be so easy!!

I know the feeling! We are trying again today, and trying to be serious about it. I'm struggling with being consistent myself so that's been a problem. I really wanted to have them potty trained by the time I went back to work and I'm starting to think it's not happening...

I hope you have better luck soon!
