would you have any concern if your cervix was soft and dilated 2-3cm at 30wks?

I wouldn't worry if the dr told me not to. I know a lot of women who walk around dilated for weeks and weeks. Are you having contractions??

    the ob doesn't know yet.

DH noticed i felt different when we were having "fun" last night and I checked myself this morning and was shocked to feel that my cervix was as squishy as it was and that i could slip in two fingers and change into my cervix..... i've been having bhc on and off for a while now.

If that were me, I would go to your OB on monday or if you are concerned I would go to L&D. I was 2cm and soft for about 6 weeks before I delivered (and I still ended up being induced), so it could be nothing or something. I was never one to run off to L&D but I remember going once when I hadn't felt Olivia kick for a few hours...and I was glad that I did, because you just never know.

First of all, no more poking around in there! Fingers or otherwise. I would call the doctor immediately. I was 70% effaced and 1 cm when I was admitted for PTL at 30 weeks. I was on meds and bed rest for six more weeks before I went into labor again and I was 3 cm when I went to the doc that morning.

    Please call you doctor!

actually, so long as her water hasn't broken & her hands are clean, there's no reason not to check her own dilation. :pardon:

that being said, a call to your OB probably wouldn't be a bad idea. have you noticed any change in your BH/contraction pattern lately? as others have said though it's quite possible to walk around for weeks a couple of cms dilated & not go into active labor.

My cousin was dilated at 36 weeks and her water broke when the nurse was checking her. Just be careful!

i've always been told if you are allowed to have sex, then you can check your cervix provided you take proper precautions and know how :)

i walked around for 2 weeks at 4 with my dd and didnt go into labor until i was 40wks2days. my bhc are still sporadic and not coming in any regular patterns so I don't think i'm going into active labor or anything. i'm hoping its just normal, but i will put in a call monday.

WOW!! There is NO WAY I could even reach WAYYY up there to check my own cervix!! My belly is HUGE at 24/25 wks!!

Anywho, I would for sure call Dr if there is any worry in your mind...just to be on the safe side and to ease your mind. Keep us posted!

If it were me, I would be concerned. :pardon:

Like you, with my oldest DD I walked around 3cm dilated (at 37 weeks) for 4 weeks, she was finally born at 41 weeks. But with my twins I was 2cm at 24w and they came early. But a twin pregnancy is definitely different than a singleton one.

I would call your OB, I would call today and not wait until Monday. :pardon:

I am 2cm dilated and 0-0.2cm cervix at 24 weeks! They sent me directly to hospital. Also, because I have a short cervix, they said that checking it manually can induce labor.

With my boys I was 2 cm dialated and 60% effaced at 24 weeks, what I thought were BH, was actually full on contractions. I was admitted for PTL and put on strict bedrest for the rest of my pregnancy. I would go be checked if I were you.

I did not actually (i know bad me, i have my appt at 4:45 today and will just give him a heads up that i've been feeling pressure and stuff.) Knowing him he will just have me take it easy until my cervix length scan on friday. I think all is ok though. I figure if something was going on then it would have picked up by now.

I just wanted to say that if I could check my cervix I would, like PP said, if its good for sex you can check your cervix for crying aloud.... I hope all is well :grouphug:

I was just wondering though...if Dr's KNEW she was dilated they may put her on pelvic rest, thus no sex and no more checking cervix. Does that make sense?? No idea, but I would be careful

the dr did a pelvic and wasnt concerned at all. he said everything down there was normal and what he would expect for a mom expecting twins who had had 2 previous pregnancies. I'm always dilated to something, you never really close back up after giving birth lol.

now if it was my first and i was showing any dilation that would be different

AHAAA!!! So glad all is well! So, this raises a question for me from my last visit...I have cervical checkes every 2 weeks and this last on (25 weeks) my peri said I was a fingertip dilated, but still long, firm, high. But I have had a child before so, I wonder if this is just from not being "closed up" all the way??? But, I have been closed up until this point so I am sooo confused/worried. But she said not to worry and didn't give me any restrictions, so...I am TRYING not to worry LOL!!
