my hubby has been helping me get out of bed each morning. He turns my hips, helps me get to the edge, and lifts me up. If i dont have his help I am trapped in the bed. he's going out of town next month and i need to know how to get out of bed.
I used to slide myself over to the side, I would also lay on my side, put my feet down on the floor and push myself up with my arm. Hope that makes sense
i did this up until a little while ago. i cant get my feet to the ground and i cant support my weight with my arms (i'm not a pathetic weakling lol, its just that the carpal tunnel is really bad) i'll test out the chair thing
Oh, I also slept in the recliner for about a month. That was a lot easier to get out of then the bed.
I now have to sleep in a semi reclined position in order for my hips not to hurt so bad. If I sleep on my sides, I can NOT get up without screaming in pain. My bed is high too, so my feet do not touch the ground when they hang over the edge. Up until the semi reclined position, when I would sleep on my side I would slide inch by inch to the edge, push my self up with whatever arm is on the bottom, swing my legs over and then slide down the side of the bed. I would then have to stand there for a couple seconds before starting to walk or my legs would give out. Luckily if I lean forward I can reach the doorway to the bathroom, so I just lean over and then use the wall as a leverage so I can walk. With the semi reclined position, I am not in as much pain, so I just have to swing my legs over the bed, slide down then lean into the bathroom doorway. Seems like your best bet is to have something that you can pull out of bed on or lean on (like the other person who had the recliner to lean on and me with the doorway). Good luck!! I know it hurts!!
on my side and I use the nightstand as leverage to push myself up on my booty and then stand :youcandoit:
Another chair sleeper here! I spent 20+ weeks in my chair I just could not get comfy in the bed! there was even one day at 22 or so weeks that I was taking a tub bath and could NOT get out of the tub - the only person home at the time was my teenage son :shok: - luckily after many tries and retries I got out by myself! while your husband is out of town - you may also want to stick to showers!
I usually push myself up with my arms from laying on my side, then swing my legs around the bed and sit for a minute to make sure I'm not lightheaded before standing. Our bed is kind of tall and my feet don't touch the floor either. Sometimes I reach out a little farther for the nightstand and use that to steady myself and push up to a sitting positions since it's more stable and doesn't have as much give as the mattress.
I am to the point where if I cant roll over to sit up I just roll slowly off the bed and stand up from there.
Same problem here....I actually attached a rope to the bottom of the bed. I hook it on the nightstand and when I am ready to get up, I just grab it and pull myself up. It's awesome actually!! Really works. Although my pelvis hurts sooooo bad...feels like it will just crack in two. But it works for me
Former chair sleeper here too!! From 20 wks till birth and it was the BEST thing. I had a rocker recliner so that lil rock sort of propelled me out of the chair when I needed to get up. I'm preggo again and even though it's one baby, I plan on using the chair towrd the end. The semi reclined postion eased pain all over and I slept so much better :lazy:
