I know I'm only 3 weeks out but by this time with my last 2 pregnancies I only had a small pooch. I'm still very preg looking. My boobs are a 36ddd and my belly still sticks out past them. I'm afraid to go out in public bc I know someone will ask me when I'm due. Ugh! How long did it take your belly to shrink? I'm nursing too so that should help a little. My belly was huge though. Measured 47 weeks the day of my c sec. Whine whine. :)

I always found that, after the first pregnancy, it always took a bit longer after each pregnancy for my stomach to go back to relatively normal. With the twins, it took even longer. If you were measuring that big, your stomach muscles are likely separated & it's just hard for them to hold everything in like they used to. It will get better but it's going to take time. But, you are right, the breastfeeding will definitely help!

This was my first pregnancy and being 4 weeks from delivery I look like I never had twins let a lone a baby...BUT I've been using the belly bandit at night to help my muscles and tummy get back to normal. I don't know if you've looked into one of those? or other belly belts. :)

OTherwise I know with friends after 2 pregnancies it took time for their stomach to reach normal size. :) You'll get through it! I'm sure you're still just as beautiful don't worry! <3

I actually have the belly bandit. I got it for my last pregnancy but hated it. It is uncomfortable and it rides up. I think I've worn it once. I guess I should dig it out and wear it. My OB says they are a gimmick. I dunno. It can't hurt I guess.

Ohhh Goodness, give yourself a break  I can't remember how long it took me to not look preg anymore but I know I didn't lose all the weight until I stopped nursing!!

The day after I'd given birth to the boys.. we stopped by dh's best friends .. moms house and she looked at me and said "gee it looks like there's another one in there" SO not something you say to someone who has just given birth. I know she was joking but I was really PO'ed that she said that!

I'm not worried about the weight loss. I know it will eventually come off. Lost 40 already. Still have 35 to go and fine with it but my belly is still very big and preg looking still :-(

is ur belly hard? is it ur uterus still that is distended? my girls are 10 weeks and 5 days i had a rough c-section. i gained 64 pounds and i have lost it all plus some! i am back to pre- pregnancy weight and im BF. but my uterus is still hard and distended and doctor said some peopls just take longer to go back down! it sucks --but its ok!!

P.S --I took my girls to doctor when they were 4 weeks and i parked in vallet parking (their doctor office is at hospital) and the vallet guyu said do you need wheel chair to take you up stairs to delivery floor!my dh was driving and the babies were in the back (he had not seen them yet) i was sooo embarrassed!!

but in time my stomach has gone down alot but i still do habve a hard pouch from my uterus! but its also uterus atony! you can look that up!

it will go down! no worriesss---

No I can't blame it on my uterus. My belly is as soft as a tub of jello. Ha! Congrats on your quick weight loss!

Didn't it take you 9 months to develop that belly?...lol Give yourself a little more time! It'll go. With the second one, much slower, but it'll go.
I gained 50 lbs with the boys and measured 47 weeks just like you when I delivered them. Now, almost 9 months later I still have alittle extra skin/fat. After my first pregnancy it went away in no time. This time around it took longer.

Don't worry it will happen!! I still had a huge belly for like 4 weeks or so and then it just gradually went down. I was visiting my girls in the NICU when a lady asked me in the restroom if I was there to deliver and told me good luck, URG I was sooooo mad! I thought, if she had only seen my HUGE belly a week before that... LOL... I went out that night on my way home and bought a gurdle - two of them actually :) Don't worry, you'll be running around for those babies and it'll go down in no time!!

My twins are 8MO and they are our #5 and #6, but I never had a belly stick around this long....but I also realize that if i didn't have a belly, the breasts would look HUGE
THey say give yourself at least a year, but i could fit into regular clothes, i'd feel better [guess i could just fork over $$ for bigger sizes than 10/12s, huh....]

Jeez - only 3 weeks? Cut yourself some slack...LOL. :) I bet you are going to start seeing a difference very soon. The weight poured off of me as I nursed. But I started noticing it more drastically about 8-10 weeks out. I gained 10 lbs instantly back once I stopped nursing. :(

I have learned it takes time. My twins were #4 and #5 and I am still working on my belly 9 months out. You just had your babies. Give yourself time. It will go down. It took 9 months to get that belly. Don't expect it to leave overnight. Although that would be nice!

I agree with Tina--your stomach muscles may have separated. I had that. I remember writing a similar post on TS several months back.

    It does get better though!

I took a while for mine to go back down, but now the boys are 10 months old and I am almost back to normal. I think it could have gone down faster if I had found time to exercise. But I am getting plenty of exercise now that they boys are crawling and pulling up!

Hi I just wanted to say I totally understand how you feel. I'm 4 weeks out and i still have a prego looking belly. It upset me because with my first daughter I lost all my belly weight pretty much by the end of the 1st week but hat was a vaginal birth. I've been wondering myself how long it will take for this to go away but everyone has said it takes time. IT def has gone down though compared to the first 2 weeks. I noticed you said your belly was soft, when my doc saw me my belly was very soft and I was having problems going no. 2. Doc had said I was loaded with gas (which I didn't feel) and needed to go to bathroom some so had me take dulcolax which helped and my belly had gone down alot. Just wondering if maybe thats your situation as well. But again even with it going down more I still have a def prego looking belly I am wearing the abdominal belt although I agree I don't find it comfortable. My doc also told me to try wearing spanx one size smaller but thats not exactly comfortable either but I'm doing it on and off.. well, good luck to us :) hang in there
