We are almost grown out of our 6-12 mos robeez. Was going to stick with Robeez but saw a brand called Pedipeds that looked similar. Anyone favor one over the other for any reason? I do notice that the Robeez elastic would cut into their ankles as they have gotten older. Obviously could have been the size but I would like them to wear them without socks as it is hot now. I am interested in the mary jane style in either brand. Thanks for your input.

As my boys started to walk I wanted something more substantial than Robeez for walking around the city so I bought Pedipeds and really liked them. My only gripe was my boys quickly learned how to unvelcro them, but we never lost a shoe.

I got a pair of the Pedipeds at a family sale used, and LOVED them! I they were leather/suede and I have to laugh, that I accidently washed one sandal once, so then I had to wash the other, and they came out perfect. anyway, I loved that pair of shoes. the soles were very flexible and yet had a rubber sole that I liked since they were walking.

Oh - so they have a little sturdier sole? I am wondering about playing in parks, etc, because the Robeez are so soft it seems it may not be enough protection?

Yes, they're definitely sturdier than Robeez (which I think are just leather), I felt comfortable to let them walk all over Manhattan and wasn't worried about something puncturing the bottom.

I had a pair of mary jane style pedipeds for DD and they were too wide for her foot. Maybe she had a narrow foot or something, but just throwing that out there. She actually ended up never wearing them even once because they never fit her. I did use Robeez, and liked them a lot. I never had either for when they were walking though. I too just wanted something sturdier. Mine are barefoot unless they are outside.

If the elastic is hurting them, don't use it.

We still use our Robeez with socks for Gymboree time. For us,
our pediatrician told us to have very soft sole shoes for outside
and bare feet for inside. They were still walking on their toes
at the appointment. See what your prediatrician says for your kids.
They might be a-okay with normal shoes.

My guys play with velco. So we were a Robeez only or old-fashioned laces family.

How about stride rites SRT brand. I have used to soft motion for both of mine and love them. Not sure how big they go but once they are walking they can go to the SRT style.

I love Pedipeds. My SIL sent me a pair for each of my boys. Unfortunately my boys weren't able to wear them; it turns out they need Wide shoes. But they looked very well-made and comfortable. I also really like Preschoolians, and they offer a 40% discount for twins! :)

I love robeez but recently got some pedipeds. The original with the soft soles. Love them. Our pediatrician also recommends that the boys stay in soft soles for as long as possible (barefeet for inside).

  11. we have both - the pedipeds got them through winter -the velcro was trouble as they undid them all the time but we got full use out of the them the robeez are good too and they have different styles from soft sole to sturdier soled shoes online

    they barefoot inside too
