I've been having some braxton hicks off & on the last couple weeks; nothing too concerning. I mentioned it to my dr at my last checkup & she said my uterus is bound to be more "twitchy", but to call if they get regular & uncomfortable.

Then Fri night I started getting a lot of them, and it's continued for about 3 days. I drank a whole bunch of water today & finally tonight they seemed to stop for awhile. But then about 2 hrs ago I was sitting down & my lower back started hurting & my belly started hurting. Not like hurting plus BH ..... it just hurt. It started to lessen, but I thought I'd try a warm bath anyway.

So, long story short I'm still having these BH and I don't know if I should call? So far, they still aren't regular. It's just the number I guess that has me concerned & that I've tried all the usual (laying on your side, warm bath, lots of water) and they haven't gone away.

Since you are concerned, go ahead and call. Making you feel better is their job! whether it's emotionally or physically.

I would call, it won't hurt.

I can only speak from my experience. I barely had any BH with the twins, but with Becca and Sam I had TONS. They were most regular at the start of my third trimester through delivery. As a matter of fact, on the day of my induction with Becca (4 days overdue) I remember the nurse asking "do you know you're having these regular contractions?" (I was hooked up to the monitor at the time) to which I had to respond "I've had these for the past 3 months". These were very regular contractions, every 3-4 minutes for several hours at a time. In your case, I'd be more concerned if they were regular (since you're only about 21 weeks). That being said, if you have any concerns, I'd call. Better safe than sorry.

I went to L&D for this yesterday, but after 2 m/c's last summer I wasn't taking chances. They told me I was dehydrated, overheated, and had been doing too much. So lay down, put your feet up and drink LOTS of water, and if they don't ease up within 2 hours, call. Good Luck!

thanks everyone! I did end up calling the dr after they started to get more intense with some back pain. Of course, soon as I called they eased up. She had me drink even more water & lots of warm baths, which helped. Next day she sent me for an u/s to check cervical length, which looked good! She wants to follow up in 4 weeks & do another u/s, just to be on the safe side.

That always happened to me with my twins! Every time I would call in, I would wait hours and hours and then call and they would go away within minutes. But, I actually had braxton hicks for the last 3 weeks of my pregnancy straight - all day long every day - and there wasn't much that would make them go away. I would just time them and if they got in the 5 minute range consistenly, I would tell someone. Water helped make them more comfortable.
