I called to make my girls four year checkup with the Pedi..we always do it in the summer since I'm off from school so we're behind. Anyway, I know they are up for shots, but when I asked the nurse how many I really expected to hear that they would be receiving one. When she said they would be receiving FOUR a piece I about flipped out. I can't remember Luke's four-year-old shots, I am almost certain it wasn't four, but I really am not looking forward to this visit. I am hoping they accomodate us and let my husband take one of them out into the waiting area while the other one is getting her shots. I'm really nervous about this visit and think that they will NEVER want to go back to the pedi after this!

 Yep, I know both of mine received 4 shots at their 4 year old visit back in Feb. It was not a fun visit for me, luckily the shots are the last thing they do. I'm sure they can accommodate you and let DH take one of them out while the other is getting her shots, I don't see why they would not.

DTaP, MMR, IPV, and Varicella. I talked to my husband about splitting up the shots (maybe two and then come back and get the other two), but he thought they would never want to come back and to just get over with all at once.

Honestly I have to agree with him. If he can go with you, I would most definitely do them all at the same time! Poor babes. I am not looking forward to it when we go. I assume these are the shots they will need for school? :pardon:

Oh yeah, 4 yr. shots were NO FUN! I agree if you can have someone come with you, that would be really helpful.

I would just get it over with. It's going to be no fun either way.....might as well get it over with at one time. I don't look forward to that WCC at all!

We go in Friday just for the shots. :( I took them last Monday for their well visit and when they told me FOUR shots, I told them I'd be back on a day DH could go with me. I am NOT looking forward to it. And the worst part is I'm the biggest baby when it comes to shots.

Wow my girls just had there 4 year check up two weeks ago and we didn't get any shots. Is it possible they are behind?

I think different states require the same shot series either at age 4 or 5. Florida used to require them at age 5, before kindergarten as part of the physical to get them in school (includes ear test, eye testing, physical exam, minor lab work). DTaP, IPV (used to be OPV), MMR, Varicella.

I'm sorry. :( I hope it goes better than you anticipate.

Ah ha. At my girls' 2 year visit I remember the pedi saying we were all set for shots until 5. I'm going to call to make sure.

My DS got 5 shots at age 4. All of the ones you mentioned plus the flu shot since it was flu season. Needless to say, he was not a happy camper.

Oh yeah, I think this age (4/5yo) is the worst age for shots!!
They are older and much more aware and a lot harder to comfort.
We had all those shots at 5-right before kindergarten. I live in Kansas.

I hope the appt. goes better then expected!! but I do agree to just get it over with all at once.
