Any late twin discoveries?

Hi. I'm a little over 18 weeks pregnant. I had twins last year. The ultrasound back at 7 weeks showed a single sac this time around. But of course, despite my photographic proof, lately my subconscious keeps on scritch-scratching behind my eyes suggesting the thought I might have twins again. I'm set to have a second ultrasound in a little more than a week.

I've read about some "hiding" twins and such so my question is: How common is it that people discover a twin pregnancy later? Anyone here miss spotting one on an early ultrasound?

I have heard of many. My neighbor is one that had a scan at 6wks, saw only one sac, went back at 8wks and there was another one!! I told her that I expected it when she gave me her numbers (her HCG). Mine were completely visable side by side at 6wks, but hers were one in front and one in back. Good luck!

 

I was going to ask-Are your HCG numbers high?

Well I didn't find out until 19 weeks along, but I also didn't have an early ultrasound. I thought for sure the baby after the twins might be two, but no the early u/s showed one. However she did turn out to be a big baby at 10lbs 11oz. Let us know what you find out. Congrats either way.

 

I'm another late discovery - I was 21wk when we found out (but no early u/s).

My best friend did not know she was having twins until she went for an ultrasound to find out the sex of her baby...it turned out to be two..that was around 20 weeks. She knew something was up because she was getting so big so fast, but was still in shock when she found out.

 

I didn't know until 20 weeks when we went in to find out the sex that there happened to be two babies. But that was my first ultrasound.

 

:wavey: Me, me. We had an ultrasound at about 14-15 weeks because of weird symptoms. One healthy baby - who I was convinced was a girl. 22 weeks and the routine anatomy scan. Boom. Two healthy BOYS. But at least they diagnosed my weird symptoms.

 

24 weeks here. I didn't have an early ultrasound and they only ever heard 1 hb.

 

We had our 20 week scan and it is definitely a singleton, a girl!
