How long after having a c.section or vaginal birth did you have intercourse? Not that any of us have time for it, I was just wondering, My doctor told me to wait 6 weeks But I was curious if anyone did it before then or what their doctors told them, I had a c-section.

How long did you bleed for after c.section or vaginal delivery?

I delayed as long as I could! LOL! I would say closer to almost 8 weeks for me. With the boys, I remember it was longer than with Annabella. I had no desire, and for some reason, was worried about pain, etc-so I was in no rush!

As for the bleeding, for me it was just under three weeks, if not a bit less.

We waited 4 weeks, but my dr. told me to wait 6 weeks. For some reason, we both couldn't wait! ;)

Me too! It was well after 6 weeks for us. We were exhausted.

As for the bleeding it was about 3 weeks.

I had a vaginal delivery and I bled for what felt like was forever. I think it was 4 - 5 weeks. At my 6 week OB appointment I was still bleeding a little. Then at 2 months after delivery I got my period back. It was not a fun first 2 months. I don't think we DTD until it had been 2 to 3 months, but I really don't remember.

I think I bled for only a couple of weeks after my c-section. We DTD the night before the 6 week appt.

ETA: We might have been okay before then, but I'm kind of a stickler for rules - didn't want to mess up anything on my insides. :unknw: After I had my first DS, I asked the nurse why I had to wait 6 weeks since I had a c-section. I can't remember what she said, but it kind of made sense - maybe the uterus has to go back down? But I felt like my uterus was back to original size by 3-4 weeks, so I don't know...

We waited 6 weeks after my vaginal delivery - it would have been longer but I couldn't hold off DH! :) I had some heavy bleeding/clotting issues that started about 5-6 weeks after my delivery, and I ended up having a D&C (for retained placental tissues) at 8 weeks post-delivery - so needless to say intercourse wasn't all that frequent once we resumed it. At 6 months now, I haven't yet started my period again (though I have stopped breastfeeding recently and plan to stop pumping in the next week or 2, so maybe AF will follow shortly after that).

After my c-section I was bleeding for at least 6-8 weeks. I also had a bad recovery. It must have been closer to three months because I remember thinking--"oh this is how people have babies that are 13 months apart!"

I bled for about 9 days and we only waited for 2 weeks after my c-section (I'm all about rule breaking apparently). I had absolutely no pain and had no healing issues. I felt ready so we made it happen! haha

With my first son I think we waited 4 weeks.. I bled/spotted for 10 months... :(

With the twins I bled for like 3 weeks I think.. We waited like 10 days after they were born, BUT only because my husband was getting deployed and I wanted to get as much in as I could before he left for 7 months.. :girl_devil:

We waited for 5 weeks. Probably would have done it sooner if I hadn't been still swollen from the preeclampsia (which lasted 2 weeks). I had no problem with my c-section, even though I bled for like 8 weeks (it was getting light by the 5 wk mark). Ugh, had a month off then started my period. BLAH!! Now we are lucky if we can squeeze in a quickie once a month!! lol :clapping:

The placenta site leaves a sort open wound on the inside of your uterus. That's why they want you to wait until your follow up appt, so they can be sure everything looks good before you introduce anything (including tampons for bleeding) into the vaginal canal.

After the twins, it was probably 3 or 4 months out before we dtd. I was just too tired!

I had a c-section and bled for what seemed like forever (actually about 6-8 weeks). We didn't have sex until about 3 months after they were born because it was the last thing on my mind (DH was going stir crazy). And the first few times were very painful so be prepared for that possibility.

I only bled for about 2-3 weeks and I think we finally DTD around 8 weeks. THe first couple of times was uncomfortable but then it was back to normal.... Now, it's like SLEEP or DTD ??? and often sleep wins <_<

    Good luck

I had all vaginal deliveries. With my singletons we dtd at about 4 weeks pp. With my twins it was more towards 7 or 8 weeks pp as I was still bleeding when I went to my pp appointment at 6.5 weeks pp.

I'm glad someone else asked this because I was wondering the same thing. I'm 2 1/2 weeks post partum and am getting that... err... uhhh... itch. (For lack of a better word! ha!) It's almost ridiculous because I'm at the point that I feel like teenage boy with the s-e-x on the brain. I did have a c-sec but I'm hardly bleeding at all and am having no pain (although I'm sure and have heard that it hurts like the dickens after having a baby). So I'm thinking about being a rule breaker as well and just going for it and seeing how it goes. Hrmmmmm......
