So the boys had their 9 month check up yesterday and everyone in the ped's office (including the ped) where so happy to see them and just could not get over how big they've gotten.

Here are the results all ranked against full term babies...

    River
    Weight: 19lbs 1oz, 25% percentile
    Height: 30" tall 90% percentile

    Alex
    Weight: 18lbs 11oz 25% percentile
    Height: 29.5" 90% percentile

He said they will most likely be tall and slender like their parents, I'm 5' 9" tall and DH is 6' 2" tall.

The ped was AMAZED at how much they have grown and how happy they were. We went from just 4lbs at birth to now almost 20lbs!!! He was also so happy and just kept saying what a wonderful job I was doing raising these guys. I could even hear him tell the nurses and everyone in the office, once he left the exam room, how wonderful a job I was doing raising them and how he couldn't believe how big they've gotten.

I went through our feeding schedules and all that jazz and he said everything was right on target with full term 9month olds so fear not.

This was all great news and EXTREMELY validating. I mean while my Dad was in town he said "you're a damn good Mother to those boys" but to hear it from a professional, a doctor, their ped was just so wonderful and validating and it just make me feel like "you know what Kristine, you are doing a good job!".

    So YAY, happy appointment!!!!

Side note: We are also pulling ourselves up, going from sitting up to standing and crawling. We also say "Da da" :D

That sounds wonderful! Congratulations, mommy, job well done! I'm sure you were on cloud nine. This, especially coming from professionals is a great achievement. I'm very happy for you.

Thanks Gigantor, I actually hugged the nurse after she too said the same thing. It's one thing to hear it from friends and relatives but it's just so validating to hear it from a professional who sees kids ALL DAY LONG. So to have him (the ped) say it made me so incredibly happy, like YES I AM doing something right! It was truly a wonderful day!!! :D

Great to hear!! Especially considering how you've struggled this first year with their feedings it must be so reassuring to hear that they are thriving. Good job, momma!

That is GREAT Kristine! Congrats. Are you kidding? Of course it's validating and amazing to hear that after all of the effort you've put into those boys they are doing really well and thriving. What mama wouldn't be incredibly proud? High five to you and keep up the good work !!!

    Hugs,
    Anna

We go from 5am to 5pm. They take about 6oz at 5am and then at 6-6:30am I give them some level 2 baby food, some type of fruit. After that I put them down for a short nap and they usually wake up (if they nap at all) between 7:30 and 8am. I give them a second level 2 fruit when they get up and then they take a 9oz bottle at 9:30am and then nap until about 12:30pm. They get up and I give them a level 2 dinner type food like chicken and rice, hearty vegetables, things like that. Then they play and between 1:30 and 2pm they get a 4oz bottle. The play until 5pm when I give them another 9oz bottle and they fall asleep usually around 6pm. The pediatrician thought this was a good feeding schedule and he was very happy with it so I'm not worried that they aren't getting enough to eat or anything. They are really good babies.

And thanks everyone for the congrats and everything, that means a lot. And you are right, I HAVE been through a lot with these boys...sheesh. To hear news like that made me feel SO great! <3
