when do twins start looking identical?

Based on the placenta we have mono/di twin girls. I saw on another post that sometimes because of weight differences and face shape twins don't always look alike at first. That is definitely the case for us. Eyes, nose, lips, hair and ears are the same, but one has a narrow head (she was head down) and the other has really chubby cheeks. People question us when we say they are identical, but then if you show them pictures they can't tell who is who. When do they start looking more alike in this situation?

I have the same issue, mine don't look alike either, and it has been confirmed they are ID. I am curious about the answers to this thread

I am in the same boat ... mine look very identical in photos, not so much in person. Partially, I think, due to the fact that their heads are fairly different shapes. We just received our DOC Bands last week, though, so maybe they'll look more alike after their noggins are round?

My girls were like that due to positioning plus one was a bit bigger than the other. They are 8 now and still have slightly different face shapes but look more alike.

Here I thought we were the only one in this situation. We were told from the start that my boys were mono/di. When they were born, they looked almost ID - but their heads were shaped different and one was a lb more. Now, they don't look ID. Their features seem to be the same, but different hair and different shaped heads. I think their feet are different too. Most people do not think that they are ID when they see them because you can easily tell the difference. I guess I'll see as they get older.

Glad to hear we're not alone. Thanks for the pics pinkpinkpinkblue... hope that will be my name in the future. I have a two year old daughter and now 4 month old twin girls. Hoping for a boy in a few years :)

My boys started looking more alike in person around the one year mark. By the two year mark, all differences in the head shape were gone. My baby A had a longer, leaner face/head while baby B who had all the room and wasn't jammed down had the rounder face/head.

Wow. I just started to doubt if ours 1 month olds girls r ID. Seems like so many of us are n the same situation. We know ours are mono/di, at the beginning couldn't even find the membrane between babies and were fear that they were momo. For sure one placenta. But they just don't look alike! One pound different, one has much chubbier face, but their features are the same from fingers to ears to nose. But friends just like to tell us that they are not identical, at first I tried to reason and explain, but now I got annoyed and just let them think they know my babies more than I do!

For my 4 year old twins some weeks they can look totally different and others the same. Especially now that Peyton is getting thinner. We always were able to tell who was who when they were babies because Eli was redder skinned and thinner. As they got to be about 6 months it started getting harder to tell until we noticed Peyton couldn't hold his head straight. He was diagnosed with torticolis. Then by a year Peyton was getting chunkier and has been up until the last few months. They are almost the same height too. Eli is just about a half inch taller.

Peyton is on the right and Eli is on the left in all the pics

I think that even though they are identical, they will be different because they are different children. Its all in how the dna reacts per each child. My twins are identical and when they were born we couldnt "tell them apart" mainly because we didnt see a difference when they were smaller. Around 8 weeks old one was more rounder in the face and had squinter eyes (probably because of the round cheeks :) ) To others they look identically the same but to us we can tell them apart. They weight exactly the same and have the same sizes height and head circumference always within a half inch or ounce of each other! I think to the parents we know our children more than others so ofcourse we can tell! But there are times when I am looking at them at a different angle and I dont know who is who! I have to check Austin's birthmark to tell them apart!

My girls are 6 weeks and I am thinking the same thing. THey are def. ID and only had one placenta. Mono/di. thought they were momo at first bc could not find membrane til 12 weeks. Anyways to me they look NOTHING alike but too everyone who comes over her they always guess which one is which even people who see them alot bc they think they look ID. Do you think its bc us as moms know our babies so we know esactly which one is which, which in return makes us think they dont look alike??!? just wondering if anyone else thought this.. or i guess as they get older they will start too look alike...everyone that has posted on this thread and pt pics i think their twins look ID for sure!

i would put a picture up but i cant figure otu how to do it!
