We all get them, those annoying questions that EVERYONE asks us when they see you walking with your twins in a mall or the street or at a gathering. And we are sort of getting used to it, and maybe just short from buying a t-shirt that answers all the questions before they are being asked.
But what totally floored me was when i went to the mall with the 4 girls for the first time and of course caused a stampede witheveryone wanting to see the 2 sets of twins (??? really no can tbe two sets????, that was the question and statement this time round)

My oldest are fraternal twins and the babies are Identical. People we trying to convince me that Victoria and Athena must be ID as they look soooooo alike and then they would spend a good couple of minutes trying to tell the ID's apart. This one lady said she could swear that Gabriella's one ear is smaller than Serena's. I mean WTFrigging hell?? And of course they could see a difference.Thee one lady asked me if I am sure they are ID as they dont look alike at all, I told her we had them tested and they are ID and strangely they have their grandfather's blue eyes and the rest of the family have dark eyes. She still insisted, I couldnt beleive this. :woah:

Do you ladies also get these silly people who try to make ID's of your fraternals or frats of your ID?

I get alot of yours look identical. So much that I tested. But they are for sure frats. I have a friend that has 2 sets of frats. It's a tough outing for sure when we go to the mall for lunch.

When they were babies so many people asked me if mine were id. I have found that, as they get older, the comments & questions come less frequently. Now, if they are ID, then that might not be true for you, though!

We get "if they are twins why does he have so much more hair?" and "a boy and a girl? Oh - are they identical?"

I get "are they ID?" despite them being b/g and also "two boys?" even when DD is rocked out in pink. Another thing that sort of annoys me is that my DS has long, beautiful eyelashes and people will tell me "It's sad, those eyelashes are wasted on a boy..." :gah:

I get are they twins? I also get, when out with my 2 yr old, "Are they ALL yours?" No I like to torture myself and borrow children to make my shopping experience more enjoyable.

I also get, oh one of each, when BOTH boys are in blue pretty much from head to toe.

I love the "oh are they twins?" question. I actually got mad at one lady & told her "No we just stole the other one" lol that shut her up. She was really rude though. I usually just answer the questions & keep walking lol.

Strangers always say my girls are ID. I dont know how! One is dark skinned the other light & there is a 1lbs weight difference between them. Plus Ari has huge chubby cheeks & Celi doesnt. Family can tell them apart now.

DH is almost embarrassed to go out in public with me and the girls. I have no patience for the comments sometimes. Like the passers-by who stop and say "awwwww, twins" EVERY 5 FEET ALONG MY GROCERY SHOPPING JOURNEY. I will turn to DH and say "awwww, really old people." That usually stops it.

Oh, and the "were they natural?" question. I tell people I had one and bought the other at Target.

"Are they twins?" Me: nope, they're 3 months apart. Then I walk away. Quickly. Before they can ask anything else.

And my favorite...."A boy and a girl?" They are both in pink dresses with their hair in pony-tails. I ask them to tell me which one they think is the boy.

Oh yes - we got a lot of those questions when we just had one set. We haven't ventured out with the boys yet though, so I'm sure it will be much worse this time with 2 sets (and our sets are frat and ID too!) The girls look very different, so many times people just stare until they work up the courage to ask if they are twins. One woman told us she thought they were about 3 months apart after being told that they were twins. Ummm - how does that work? And one woman in the store argued with us and said they couldn't possibly be twins since they had different hair color. Lady, believe me, they were both pulled out of my uterus at the same time. I think I would know.

    Love reading all these responses!!

I get "triplets ?" since we have a triple stroller. I can understand though because my "baby" is almost the same size actually I think she is gaining MORE weight than her one sister, same size head... She even ACTS the same age MINUS the temper tantrums which is GREAT !!

I used to hate " oh you have your hands full " but now I really dont' mind it because I really feel like "Yup my hands REALLY ARE full".

I get so tired of people asking if they are boys or girls when they are wearing GIANT PINK bows in their hair that my next answer will be "She's a girl and He's a cross dresser and He really loves his Pink!" People just can't help but make a comment. They are not always trying to be idiots...i think they just feel like they MUST say something.

I understand people's curiosity, but yeah the endless questions got really annoying. Now that my ID girls are 8 we really don't get too many comments anymore. :)

I get all the comments too. My uncle had twin boys and he told me to say when someone asks "are they twins?" to say "no, they are triplets but one died." I've never had the courage to say it. He said he did it all the time when he got tired of people asking.

I just started to venture out in April and I can't believe all the attention the girls get I really wasn't prepared. Some lady in the parking lot of walmart asked said .... Oh I bet your done after having those two I was really annoyed I said NOPE JUST GETTING STARTED and moved a long.

another comment I hate is oh atleast they can entertain each other LOL are you serious!! sure and they feed, nurse, change and put each other down for naps too!!

My boys are only 2wks old and I took them out the other day trying to be quick about it since they are so young. OK so I got this more than once. Awww are they identical?I answer yes we think so and then get asked is it a boy and girl? Ummm hmmm you just asked are they identical I tell you pretty sure then you ask if they are differ genders. I mean duhhhh? Then another funny question is are they twins? Umm lets see no I have two differ identical babies in matching outfits that were born 9 months apart. heehee

I never knew having twins would be such a show stopper. People come out of the wood work to see the twins and even calling friends and family over to come look. I would not mind so much, but they are just born and I don't want strangers lurking around them makes me nervous with germs and all. PLus I would FREAK if someone tried to touch them or something.

I get tired of the comments too lol. I was out with my sister (she is black and I am white) and when the 5th person asked if they were ID, we said "Yes" fully knowing the next popular question "Do they run in your family?" We said "Yes, we are twins!" lol.... she walked away looking really confused.

I get a lot of the same questions about my B/G twins but I don't mind so much. I thought I would but I guess since we don't go out often I don't get the questions often

i actually had the first one this past week although it was almost the opposite of most questions. we took them to the doctor and the conversation with the nurse went like this:

nurse - "how old is mason?"
    me - "8 months"
nurse - and how old is lucas?"
me - insert pause here...."8 months"
nurse - "oh, okay, he's 8 months too..."
    me - *silence*

keep in mind, my husband and i are each holding one, they are looking right at her, and they couldn't be more identical. so funny...

I get "were they planned?" My standard answer is "One was" Is there anyone out there that really "planned" their twins? I mean did you wake up one morning and say - "Gee, I really don't get enough time with screaming babies, and dirty diapers - I think I'll have some twins today" I realize it's people thinking they're being polite about asking about fertility treatments - but even that's not polite ;)

I TOTALLY do not understand the comment about if they were planned. Makes no sense. Even with fertility, you CANNOT plan twins. Even though in general the odds go up when doing IUI or IVF - you still can't force it!

I am so going to use that line the next time someone insists that my boys can't be twins since one is blonde and the other brunette. I really can't win. Either I'm getting asked if they're identical or people ask me if I'm sure they're twins.

When I have all four of my kids with me, a lot of people will tell me "God bless you, you certainly have your hands full" and I now answer "God has blessed me." I also don't really like being told "uh oh double trouble." I always respond with " No, they 're a double blessing." Oh and I wish I had a doller for everytime someone asked me what made me decide to have four kids. Um, hello do you not understand that our last two are twins?

Am I the only one who gets bombarded with twin stories? After the inital questions, people always want to tell me about all the other twins they know. :unknw:

I was shopping at a store. I had one boy in my arms and the other in the cart. My husband was with me but he was talking to a friend he ran into. I was just waiting. Two women came up to me with the usual "are they twins" and other question which I answered not really paying much attention to them.

Later I had only one boy with me and my husband had the other somewhere else in the store. The same women from earlier came up to me all frantic... oh no you've lost one do you need any help.

I was like do you think I'd be standing here all calm and collected if my other 14 month old was missing.

I calmed her down with a "no he is with his daddy".

My girls just turned 5yrs old last month so the crazy comments you all are getting have somewhat died down although they still pop up now and then. Now the comments are a little cuter - recently we ran into a boy from the girls preschool at a restaurant and he came over to our table to say hi, we then stopped over by his table as we were leaving and as we were walking away I overheard his mom ask him if my girls were twins and he answered very sarcastically "yes" as if she was asking the most stupid question in the world - it was really cute.

You know, I really thought as my two got older that the questions would soon come to a end. However, after reading this discussion I realize that we will never have a calm outing with no one touching my children like they are their own. What is wrong with people? I would never go up to someone and just touch their children or breath on them. Don't they realize that while they are just curious all we want is some peace and quiet. One trip to the mall without the stares would be quite welcome.

I absolutely love reading this thread!!! I was in full belly laughs at one point or another!!

Ever since having the twins, I sort of know what it would feel like to be in the pulic eye such as a celebrity and all we want to do is get out like normal people and not having people oooing and awwwing at us every step of the way.

I have boy/girl twins and I make it very clear that I have one of each either in what they are wearing or by the colour of blanket that is wrapped around them. And this is the conversation I have pretty much with everyone right now...
    stranger - "are they twins?"
    me - "yes"
    stranger - "are they boy/girl?"
    me - "yes"
    stranger - "are they identical?"
me - "no, she has a vagina, he has a penis, I'm pretty sure thats grounds for NOT being identical"

I even had this conversation with a man who told me that he had a twins sister! He out of anyone should know that if we have differen't body parts, we aren't identical.

When people ask me if they run in my family (just a polite way of asking if I used fertility) I say "yes, they will in about 6 months time".

All the questions bothered me more when my boys were a bit smaller, now that I’m not so worried about every germ I don’t mind so much, and the boys seem to enjoy the attention. If I’m in a hurry or just don’t want to deal with people I just try to look annoyed. I find that most people look at the boys first, and then make eye contact with me before saying anything… a good glare/scowl seems to keep ‘most’ people at bay.

Love all the comments lol We get them a lot too. I love the "oh you must be busy" Yes actually I am so PLEASE let me get my shopping done ;)

I also get asked if my older two are twins... they do look alike but are 2 yrs apart... so we quite often get the "ohhh TWO sets of twins?!?!" :headbang:

I had an older man ask me one time if mine were girls or boys (they were bald forever) and his wife knudged him and said, "They're in pink!" He looked at her and said, "I don't pay attention to stuff like that" I thought it was so funny.

I still get stopped in the grocery and asked "Are they twins?" I guess now that they are getting older some people are not quite sure if they are just really close in age or actually twins. Just yesterday an elderly women stopped me and had to pull out her pictures and show me her three sets of twins in her family. I think people just are so fascinated with twins in general. I have had many stupid questions, but I think most people mean well, they just don't know and so they ask. I didn't know anything about twins before I had mine and probably stared and gauked and would have asked stupid questions if I weren't so shy that I just didn't talk to strangers.
