I have a boy and a girl twins, they are eight months old and the boy is starting to crawl. Abigail however, is not showing a bit of intrest in crawling. When should I start to be worried? Do twins start activities later than single infants? We asked our pediatrician and we got a political answer. Any input would be helpful.

Twins don't start crawling later than singletons. But, preemies start crawling later than full term babies. At 8 months old I would not worry. I bet she will start on her own by 12 months. Does she try to scoot or roll?

I can tell u that mine are 9 months and at 8 months I had the same concerns about my little boy having no interest-while his sister went everywhere! in the past week he has gotten up on all fours and started army crawling as well! I would just give it a little bit of time. Its hard not to compare(I even scheduled an evaluation for him because I was doing the same-he just needed to do it in his own time frame)

All babies develop at a different rate. I think crawling by 11 month would be the norm but some babies never crawl. My daughter never did. Just pulled herself up at 9 months and started to cruise.
Give it a little more time. ;)

One of my girls were crawling all over the house at 7 months however the other one just started crawling, they just turned 9 months on the 20th. My niece didn't start crawling till almost 11 months and only crawled for a couple weeks and started walking... I don't think you have anything to worry about, it's different depending on the baby.

None of my kids could even sit up on their own until 7 months and the girls didn't start crawling until 8 months or so. I wouldn't worry as of yet either, especially if they were preemies. If they are like my kids, they'll take their time crawling and then be impatient to walk. My girls were up and walking by 11 months, so they didn't need much crawling time apparently.

Yes she does, and she gets on her hands and knees, however she only does this when she thinks she's alone. She very perceptive and watches everything around her. I figured she would most definitely crawl before her brother. I guess they have a mind of their own.

They were only 3 weeks early and spent no extra time in hospital. All other developmental stages have been on time and she's already trying to say words, I guess I'm just a worrywart.
