I am thinking about buying one but I wanted to know what age they can start using it and for those that have them are they worth it, how long did they use it for?

My mom bought us two of them for our boys for "Easter" but brought them over about a month early. So I'm going to guess they were 4 months old at the time. Kepler was still fairly floppy at the time and didn't like it for longer than 5 minute stretches, if that. Tycho was pretty chill about it as long as he had something to fidget with - blanket, piece of fabric, etc - hard toys just get dropped. We do have the trays, but the way they sit kind of forces them to slouch forward, so feeding them in the seats (on the floor, as the safety instructions say) isn't very ergonomic for mama. Lol. Right now at nearly 6 months, both boys are content for longer periods - maybe 20 minutes max, but I have to be right there, since Tycho's back arching has nearly toppled him once or twice. Still not good for feeding.

What I do like is that it gets them sitting in a different position than in their bouncers, or car seats or what-have-you and keeps their heads off of flat surfaces for a while. I tell myself they're working on head strength. Lol.

I'm not sure what to think about the trays. It might be fun once they're working on finger food, but I imagine by then they'll be sitting on their own anyway, so it just seems a bit silly to me.

I have loved my bumbos! With my last singleton she did very well in it and we used it as a travel highchair til she was like 1! With my twins we started for very short stretches at about 4 months, my boy never did too well in it, as pps said he was fairly floppy from side to side in it. He is much better now at 7.5 months. My girl has always been great in it but she is shorter and chunkier...she's our little brickhouse, ummmm her thighs are already starting to outgrow it bwahaha! These guys don't love them quite as much as my last babe but they love to play with the trays on and smack all their toys on them and make noise.

Mine started around 3 - 4 months old. They really liked it. I had the Bumbo trays as well, and they were great for when we were traveling or visiting friends and didn't have access to their highchairs. They ate in the Bumbos quite often!

We used them for such a short time, I would see if you could find a used one if I were you. They were great, but L&L learned to escape from them fairly quickly.

We loved our Bumbos, started at 4 months and used them until they were sitting on their own really well (which wasn't until 8 months). I bought one used for $15 off of Craigslist which was perfect and bought the other new. I sold both of ours at a twin yardsale for $30/both.

I also had the Lionhart bebe pod or whatever one. It didn't work as well as the bumbo, so I gave it to my bestie who had a chunkier girl and it worked fine for her.

I liked it, but never got the tray that went with it... maybe I would have liked better with the tray.

I would totally recommend getting them 2nd hand... there is nothing to cleaning them up to use. I think $40 is a looooot of money for a chair... anyway, you should be able to get 2 for that price and then resell them at the same price... that equals FREE!

    good luck.

I started around 4 months. DS hated it and still does, plus his thighs are way chubby for it. We dont use it ALL the time but we use it occassionaly. DEF buy used though!

LMAO - my Ava is the big gal and when I take her out of the Bumbo her thighs get stuck in the leg holes and instead of just getting her the Bumbo comes along for the ride!! It's too funny.

Our girls were around 5.5 months old when we started using the Bumbo. At first they didn't like sitting in it for longer that a couple of minutes but now they will happily sit in it for longer so long as they have toys within reach.

I started using it when they had pretty good head control. Right about 4 months or so. Mine hated it so I sold it.

Thanks! I'm going to have the lady at the consignment shop keep her eye out for one, I'm not paying for a brand new one.

Mine were not that crazy about them. (DS hated the it and DD tolerated it). Luckily I bought it for $20 off Craigslist. I will definitely resell it after baby #3 is done with it.

Since my DD does not like milk every morning I feed her yogurt in bumbo. She is tall and lean so still fits well and likes it very much. Sometimes I joke that I will send my duo to school with bumbo seats because they still use them to sit and look at the books.

    Hi there :)

We started using ours at 3 months (non corrected). We had them on out registry and we received one. I don't think I would have personally bought 2 as they are quite pricey!!...We alternate teh twins in it and both seem to like it just fine. I like how it is an 'alternative' to tummy time. I would totally buy one second hand if you can. I will for sure resell mine after!! :FIFblush:
