Hello everyone! I am new here also and so glad I found a forum dedicated to twins!!
Anyways, I am 14 weeks and 1 day prego with twins! I actually found out at six weeks that it was twins because I had to have an u/s due to some bleeding. I was so terrified I had a miscarriage but was instead given the news that I was having twins!! I did some research on the subchorionic bleed (have had no bleeding lately, but havent had an u/s to make sure it healed) and a lot of people say that you should be on pelvic rest. Well I'm just wondering if it's safe to have sex now...
I asked my ob-gyn and he said it was fine until about 20 weeks and when I mentioned the pelvic rest he just kind of shrugged, I didn't know if that meant to follow my gut instinct? I really want to do everything in my power to protect these babies...

    Any input appreciated!

I had a lot of bleeding during the first trimester and my OBGYN specifically said that I could not have sex. I would think that if he said it was okay, then it probably is. If, however, you don't feel comfortable, then don't and follow your instinct.

I agree, always follow your gut. :good: If you don't feel comfortable right now or will worry after about it, then if it were me, I would not do anything.

We had sex occassionally until I was put on bedrest at 31 weeks.
I can say it did always cause braxton hicks for a little while afterwards, never any bleeding though.
Do what you feel comfortable with!!

I had the same situation with bleeding- actually, I was sent to the hospital to get a ultrasound because every time we had sex it caused bleeding. So that's where we found out that they were twins at 10 weeks. They never said I had the bleed you mentioned, but mentioned that I had a sensitive cervix. I would had tiny amounts of blood when they would do a trans vaginal ultrasound. It does stand to reason as you have twice as much blood volume as normal and that could make you sensitive. After they reassured me this was normal, I would make sure it went away and I wasn't bleeding TOO heavily, but kept on (until I no longer could, physically).

    Good luck.

I also had a subchorionic hematoma and mine lasted from about 6wks until about 14wks when I finally stopped spotting. I was told by my RE to avoid sex until it went away. We abstained until my 17wk U/S with the RE where we finally asked again and he said that it was fine now but that if I am bleeding again to stop again. We have only tried a few times since then but now that I am having a lot of braxton hicks, I am having a hard time enjoying it so we have been just finding other ways to amuse ourselves. :)

I agree with Amy, follow your gut! It's usually right. :good: If I were in your shoes, I probably wouldn't do "it" for a bit.

I too had the same bleed and was told by my doc to avoid sex so it would heal on its own faster, and it did, it only lasted about 6 weeks and then we were back to work! hope you heal soon!
