i have a LO that will talk, moan, groan, whine and move around 800 mph in his crib. i pick him and try to get him to just 'relax' and its impossible. it takes the kid atleast 30 minutes to relax for a nap. is this normal or am i doomed for a hyper child, lol?

ETA - are there any tips to help him relax? we turn the lights down and read a book before naptime. his brother passes out within 5 mins!

Some kids just need that wind down time before a nap. Have you tried lullabies? White noise machine or a fan running in their room?

Can you move the "chill time" up about 30 mins? Can you read the book a bit earlier and put him down first for his wind down time? Do they sleep the same amount of time or does he sleep longer than his bro because of his extra wind down time? Does he wake up grumpy?

If he's sleeping good after he winds down, not disturbing his brother, doesn't wake up grumpy like he hasn't napped long enough, then I wouldn't worry about it. Sometimes it takes me a bit longer to get settled at night too! :)

I would take talking, moaning, and whining over screaming bloody murder any day, which is what happens when my LOs get laid in their cribs drowsy but awake for naps  Brandon in particular will rock back and forth on all fours for over 30 minutes crying the whole time, until I eventually pick him up. Granted, they haven't been sleep trained in any way during the day thanks to my mom (DH and I have done some sleep training at night though, which has improved night time sleeping). I think at this stage it is fairly normal though for a war on naps, based on comments I have read from various moms here and elsewhere. And I can't count how many times in the past month or so that I have spent 20-30 minutes rocking our SLEEPY boys (who are rubbing their eyes and yawning) and yet they STILL fight going to sleep, and fuss for 30+ minutes when I give up rocking and put them in their cribs. I keep hoping this is just a phase, though I've been hoping that for over 3 weeks now with no signs of relief, LOL.

i do use a fan and there is music constantly in their room; its spa-like music.
they do sleep at the same time - they take their nap 3 hours after they wake from their previous nap. i even lay them down about 25 mins earlier than their actual nap time in hopes to calm him a bit more.
