How many weeks before your due date is your c-section? My dr said it will be a week before my due date, is that normal??

I think it has more to do with the OB. My OB wants you to get to 38wks. I have had two sections before, so that is why I am having a section this time as well. They just planned my section this past week for 5/4 (38.1wks) my actual due date was 5/17 for 40wks.

My OB likes to schedule C secs at 36-37 weeks. She scheduled my C for 36 weeks. She said I could go to 37 weeks if I want to but she doesnt want me to go past 37 for sure. She has twins too and she had her C at 36+3.

My OB's ideal timeframe was between 37 & 38 weeks; I had my c-section at 38 weeks + 5 days because I wanted a particular birthdate. He was fine with it because I'd had no problems and was closely monitored. He was not comfortable going past 39 weeks, whether I liked a particular day or not.

My OB scheduled for twins at 38 weeks and for singleton at 39 weeks.

I had to push my OB to discuss a date because he thought it was so unlikely that I'd go full-term. Once we got to 38 weeks +, he set the date for 39 weeks because he didn't think it was a good idea to let me go any longer. I had no problems or anything, but he still didn't want to go longer. I could have pushed him out to 39 weeks and a few days if I wanted, but I was fine going with his recommendation.

When I asked my OB about this a couple of months ago she told me that once we hit 37 weeks she'd leave it up to me. So if I wanted to deliver at 37 weeks, we'd do that. If I wanted to go to 38 or 39, we'd do that. She said going all the way to 40 would probably be pushing it though.

However now, we're in a situation where we could be having them before 37 weeks so who knows. :)

I had mine at 37 weeks, it was scheduled at my 36 week appointment. My OB typically lets twins go to 38 weeks, but due to a size difference with the boys she felt better taking them at 37 weeks.

Mine scheduled for between 38 and 39 weeks. I had them at 35 weeks 5 days so I never got to schedule one. She liked to wait until you were closer to the date.

My OB told us from the start that she didn't perform c-sections before 38 weeks. Since the baby A is breech and B is transverse, at 35 weeks she had us go ahead and schedule - our girls will be born April 20th at 38w,0d. We have an ultrasound next week to check the position of the babies again and to make sure they're doing okay, along with our weekly nst.

My OB said 38wks if I didn't go on my own before then and if A is in the right position, I could have them vaginally if I wanted to...but I want my tubes tied this time, so I might ask for the C anyways.

Have you looked into the essure option or the adina option. Both permanent birth control methods but neither requires surgery. You can have it done at your OBs 6 weeks PP.
