12 days late...neg hpt

Okay, here's the scoop. I have 15-month old twin girls (Zoe & Payton). My last AF was 2/23/10. DH and I BDed on 3/13 and 3/14 with no BC. We were in Nashville on vacay with the twins. It is now 12 days past due for my AF, but nothing yet. I have taken a few HPTs but all have been negative. What's the deal? Could I be pregnant? We are not TTC, but just had a couple of nights of well...you know. And now AF is nowhere in sight. Would a blood test show positive? Or am I just having a freak month? Nothing unusual going on. I am usually like clockwork. Been feeling a little "off" but I may just be paranoid.

Any words of wisdom?

I would probably wait another week and then schedule a blood test. I trust the hpt but you never know!

yes, a blood test would show - it shows if the level is above 5 or so. its very odd that you're 12 days late... and its not showing positive on an hpt. most hpts test down to the 20 or 25 level which will typically be a couple of days before AF is expected... if I were 12 days late, I'd just want to know... and would probably ask my OB or family doc for a lab script to see! good luck!!

 

1) You could have ovulated later than you thought (unless you were charting you won't know for sure).

2) You "could" be pregnant. A blood test would show.

 

I had a freak month like that a few mos before becoming pg with this little one. I was 5-6 days late but had a negative hpt. I took it as either a freak month or a super early m/c - who knows, but i understand wanting to know why your body isn't behaving as it should. IMO if the HPT is neg, and you have taken a few and not after drinking liters of water, you arent pg. A blood test will probably confirm that. But -what if the blood test shows a super low beta, how would you feel knowing you may have been a little pg and had a super early m/c. That happened to a friend of mine and she was like great! now i'm totally bummed - sometimes ignorance is bliss. The human body sure is a mystery sometimes.good luck with what every you decide to do, i'm sure AF will show up as soon as you stop wondering about why it hasnt shown up.

 

holy moly. i'm really out of the loop here because all of the abbreviations are like a whole new language! does anyone else feel really confused here?

what is AF? BD? HPT?

I'm pretty sure I know that BC means birth control.

Anyway, sorry for the ignorance. Just wondering if others may feel just as lost (or not!)

 

AF is aunt flow... BD is Baby dance.. HPT is Home Pregnancy Test..
