Are peeps a choking hazard? We're thinking about letting our 17 month olds have some in Easter.

My girls had them last Easter and they would have been 17 months old, and didn't have any problems.

If it were me, I'd give them cut up into manageable bits, but I'm a bit of a worry-wart. ;)

I think they sort of melt (right?), so probably not. I would actually not cut them up -- I think kids are more likely to choke/gag on something that seems small enough that they can put the whole thing in their mouth. If it's a whole Peep, they'll just gnaw on it. (At least mine would -- but it depends on the kid!)

As of last year I became a complete spaz over marshmellows . A lady in our town died after choking on a marshmallow at work. It just got stuck in her throat and could not get it out. So I am pretty extreme and dont really allow marshmallows.

I would not allow Peeps or marshmallows due to the choking hazard.

We don't do marshmellow type stuff here either, but I'm a nut about choking hazards! I still don't let my little ones eat chips or hot dogs. :pardon:

No Peeps for my girls. I think they are way too dangerous right now.

I know about hot dogs, but could you let me know why chips are a choking hazard? I didn't know... just knew they are bad for them (so don't want them to have them often????)

    Just trying to be enlightened...?
