Hi all, just wondering at what point in the pg did you "relax" a bit knowing your twins could be born (albeit very early) safely with a good chance for survival with minimal health problems. I am 22.3 weeks now and have 26-28 weeks in my head.....but curious about the rest of you.

I'm with cat mommy, around 28 weeks is when I somewhat started relaxing. :good: But I'm a worry wart and really didn't start to relax until they were born.

I felt a lot better at 24 weeks. Just knowing that they would have a chance if they were born early was a big relief. Every milestone after that, like 28 weeks, just made it even better.

About 16 weeks I stopped worrying so much about a miscarriage, (having had 4 before them) but I really didn't stop worrying til they were born, then I started worrying about my preemies. I always told the ultrasound technician, "find the heartbeats first, please and let me know they're alright."

I was hopping for 28w. But now I am 30w2d. So I am shotting for 32w, then 34w, 36w,.. to cut down NICU time and have big healthy babies :). Good luck!!!

I agree with the rest of the comments. Every milestone is one less to worry about ...24, 28, 32, 36. I too am a worry wort and am 29 wk 2 days, tomorrow I start my weekly biophysical profiles. It seems like an eternity to hit each milestone and I can't wait to meet my di/di girls. This website forum has been a blessing to hear all the positives about twin pregnancies. Good luck to you and everyone else!

Relaxing really happened for me at 37 weeks, when I knew they were ready to be born. I don't remember having at huge feeling of relaxation around that time, but probably around 28 weeks.

I had two miscarriages before the twins, so every milestone was important for me! The first was 12 weeks, and then I really started to relax more after 20 weeks....then my doc said get to 28 weeks and then 34 was the magic number! I did worry though until they were born!! I guess that is just what we mommas do though!

I felt myself relax a little bit around 24 weeks. But I really felt much better when I hit 28 weeks and my OB came into my appointment smiling and shouting "Woooo! 28 weeks!!!". :D I also was probably just being superstitious but I didn't open anything that was given to us or start setting up the nursery or even really looking at clothing that was given to us until I hit 28 weeks. I had this fear that if I did it would jinx it and something bad would happen. But.....then I think I overdid it. Because the day I hit 28 weeks I went nuts. I made my hubby help me set up both the cribs, we arranged the nursery, then rearranged. I washed all the hand me downs we were given and hung them up and folded them by size. I literally went NUTS. :D But now I'll be 30 weeks on Monday and that feeling feels even better than 28 weeks.

    Good luck!

I agree that every milestone feels important but I haven't really relaxed that much (even though I am sure they would be fine if they were born today at almost 36 weeks). I would love to get to 37/38 weeks so I'm kind of holding my breath until then. But I'm totally a worry wart!!

Sounds like we all feel a similar way. Had another scan this morning.....at 22.3 weeks no signs of TTTS and babies growing well. Checked umbilical blood flow and said all looks normal and the placenta is functioning normally. So happy....every Friday brings me a small bit of relief!!

28 weeks is a HUGE milestone!! The risk of long term complications from being born premature drop significantly at that point.

I agree. I first 'relaxed' (if there is such a thing in a twin pregnancy lol) after 24 weeks and a little more after each milestone @ 30, 34, and now knowing that if they are born now they should be fine and that bf feeding hopefully will be less of an issue. Like pp though I won't totally be at ease until they are born and I know they're ok. My poor body wouldn't know how to relax anymore though, but it's hanging in there!

i was going to say what is this "relax" that you speak of?? ;) i agree with everyone else though that every milestone brings a little more peace of mind - but if you're anything like me, you'll just find something new to worry about.  it's a crazy ride but so worth it!

I started to relax at about 34 weeks. Dr. told us things are very well developed and risks are less at that point.

My ultimate goal is 34wks, so if I make it there, I will relax. But I feel BETTER now, but still so scared of them being born in the next couple weeks. I am trying so hard to at least make it to 28-30wks and then I will START to feel better, but I think 34 will be my ahhhhhh...moment. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Stick my little girls!!! :)
