we have fleece ones and i am assuming bc the weather is warming up, it might be time to use a lighter one.
when did everyone stop using them and just use a blanket?

I think I stopped using them once my girls were around 10 months old. I don't remember why I stopped using them though. :umm: Even now, at 2 1/2 my girls still have a tendency to kick off blankets and don't typically stay covered up very long. I just dress them appropriately for the temperature in the house.

I still use ours! I think once they are able to stand up I'll stop though!

still us ours... and they actually end up being a help to keeping the babies in their cribs since they can't hike their leg up over the crib with the sleep sack on.

I also just posted in another folder about adding fabric to the bottom of the sleep sack to lengthen it... when the kids grow taller. works for us, and is a frugal fix to sleep sacks you already own, or if you can get other ones cheaply.

ours don't keep blankets on yet, and they are 22 mo. old.

in the summer last year we did quit using our sleep sacks as they seemed hot (fleece ones)... but they do make cotton knit ones too.

    good luck.

I quit just before they turned 1 yr old. They started to outgrow the length and I can't justify spending $30 apiece on new bigger ones. I tried to make one of my own but I can't find a zipper around here that is long enough for the front.

that's why I just cut the bottom and added 6" plus to the bottom, below the zipper... you might try that if you want... you may want to use sleep sacks next winter... ours love their "sleep sacks"... and like I said it really helped me keep them in the cribs!

I was never big into the sleepsacks. I used them on and off, here and there. Annabella is nine months old, and I would say she wore one maybe 10 times, if that. We just use blankets-and have from early on. She's slept on her stomach from the beginning. She keeps the blankets on for the most part-her two brothers on the other hand do not...

We did all of the no-nos as well, ha. Our boys slept on their tummies when they came home from the hospital, and we covered their backs midway down with blankets at night. I just remembered though that I bought some knit sleepsacks when they were dirt cheap at kids.woot.com several months back. They are camouflage and beyond ugly, LOL, but they might work out well this spring and summer. We had been swaddling just their lower trunk at night to keep them warm, but the blanket seems to just ride up on them and now its getting warmer and I don't want them to overheat. So I think I'll try out those lightweight knit sleepsacks this weekend.

Our twins still use them and I don't plan on stopping any time soon. We used them with our first child too. I can't remember when he stopped using them but it was beyond 1 year. During the summer time we used the lightweight ones. I always buy our sleepsacks on ebay and save lots of money!

haha!!! I have the same sleep sacks!! camouflage!! I have a boy & a girl, so I got the cute pink leopard print ones too! I couldn't beat the $4 or 5 price and went ahead and got 3 of them! I actually lined mine with fleece to make them warmer... and added 6" + to the bottom since the only size available on that kids.woot.com was small!

I had to laugh I was downloading pictures and had to share... here are the sleep sacks referenced above... the camo and leopard print ones! I lengthened as you can see. I also had to add a loop and tie to my dd's so she can't as easily unzip it... I now have to do the same to my ds.

I used them up until 2.5, when we put them into twin beds. :good: I didn't trust them to keep a blanket on and/or not get wrapped up in it.

Mine are 2.5 and I STILL use them. I love them. I have a set for summer and a set for winter. if you can't find bigger ones I've heard of people adding a piece to the bottom of an existing one. Grobag is a popular brand.

I used them when they were smaller through the first winter when they were born and then once it warmed up we never used a sleepsack again. I did buy a "sleepsack" with legs for last years winter. This year they were in beds, so they had blankets.
