This stage has to pass soon - taking pants off

Well about a month ago Lily started taking her pants off, but it only lasted about 1-1/2 weeks until she got bored with undressing herself. Well now Max thinks it is great fun to take off his pants. If I put him in belted pants or overalls he cries hysterically all day. As soon as he takes off his pants Lily takes hers off too. The only issue is she "diaper exploring" this week and sometimes I don't realize she has a poop diaper until she pulls her fingers out of her diaper...YUCK :woah: . The clean up is gross and the crying can be maddening :headbang: , so I am really hoping this stage passes really quick. Any others deal with this issue and have any suggestions?

 

You don't want to hear from me LOL My son has been doing this for well over a month and it's driving me :crazy: I'm now duct taping his diaper and putting his pj's on backwards (cutting the feet out)... I honestly am out of ideas, but I totally feel for you and am so ready to run away :grr:

 

I've got one (DS) who likes to take his pants and diaper off too, but he doesn't cry when he wears things that he can't get off so I am not help on that one! In the day I put him in pants that he can't remove, along with a onesie (those things are hard to find for his age but he can't get the diaper off) and at naptime and bedtime I put him in footed pajamas. Unfortunately, he has been doing it for a couple of months now and his absolute favorite thing to do is take his diaper off at naptime at daycare when he has fresh poo in it and throw it into the other kid's cribs! Needless to say there is one mom there who is very unhappy with me. I guess I would do the same things you are doing with belts and overalls and hope that he forgets soon either how much he hates wearing constricting clothes or how much he likes taking his pants off - sorry!

 

Our DD started taking her pants & diaper off, so I tried onsies & pants. She still took her pants off & reached thru her onsie to take her diaper off! So, now it's onsies with overalls during the day & button-up or zip-up pjs at night. Our DS started doing the same watching his sister, but has since stopped...thank goodness. Goodluck to everyone!

 

my ds will do that when he has a poop... he just wants to get the dirty diaper off... he'll leave it and go about playing... I'm thinking he's ready for potty training... or at least he is in tune with what doesn't feel good. he's been good about telling us "poo poo" if you can catch him at the right moment to tell us that he has a poo poo diaper... I am dragging my feet on potty training though... just going about it slowly... for naps, I have fleece shorts I put over his cloth diaper as an extra cover, and then I make sure to put him in a sleep sack so he can't get to his diaper... good luck.

 

Still happens here. Overalls or PJs are no help as they get out of those too (at least they unsnap the bottom of overalls). They love running around just in diapers, and somehow they keep them on still (I told them not to take them off when they did, and showed them again where the velcro goes when they took one part off).

 

I know many people don't agree, but I consider this a time out offense in our house; we use 123 Magic for discipline. I only have one doing it right now and when I see him begin to take his pants off for no reason, I tell 1 and he'll usually pull his pants up. When it's time for pj's or bath, I do allow them to take their clothes off because I want to teach them that there is a time a place to do it and I praise them the entire time.

They are almost 27 months and so far it's working.

 

We're dealing with it too. I've had to dress them more defensively & put on things they can't easily get off, like onesies or overalls.

 

When did you start time-outs? My pediatrician said that they wouldn't be effective until closer to two years old. I will have to get this book that everyone is talking about!

 

Thanks! I don't necessarily think they are too young for Time Outs I was just holding off because he said so - I might try it until I find time to buy and then read 1-2-3 Magic!
