I want to buy my kids matching boots/coat/umbrella this year. I had seen some cute sets at Old Navy, but, of course they have disappeared since I first saw them....

Where'd you get your toddler rain gear set from???

We just ordered some from REI. The closest REI store to us is 1.5 hours away.

I ended up buying some at a consignment sale. For some reason none of the kids clothing stores I've seen sells them, it drives me nuts.

My MIL got some at Marshall's. I have seen them at BJ's myself. And Land's End has some adorable stuff (Meggie has some LE boots with butterflies all over them).

We got ours at BJs (hooded rain jacket and boots).

Western Chief has cute matching sets. My girls have the ladybug boots and they are adorable.

I just saw matching boots and umbrellas at Target yesterday, but no raincoats.

The girls have Hatley rain coats.

Hatley Rain Wear - very cute!
We got them at a store while on vacation, so I guess I splurged a little. They have really been worth it, though. They've worn them for 2.5 years and they don't look worn at all. I'll be sad when they outgrow them (honestly, sleeves are too short now but they're not complaining so I'm leaving it alone). I will probably get more of this brand in the fall, because I'm so happy with them.

For boots, I've gotten them from Target, from consignment stores, & from a local outlet. I've been least happy with the ones from Target. Actually, Ella was least happy -- they were very cute but rubbed her feet so she hated to wear them. We gave them away when they still fit, hoping the new little girl would have better luck.

I find this whole discussion interesting. I don't plan to buy them raincoats or boots. I never had them growing up and my DH didn't either. I wonder if this is a regional thing.

I never had boots until I was an adult, and got my first actual raincoat when I was in high school: reversible navy/red slicker during the first preppie revolution of the '80s!

I'm sure they're more useful here because when you're getting snow, we're getting cool and rain. They use them as light-weight jackets, too, and they'll even wear the boots all day at school because our sidewalks and parking lots tend to flood a little. And, they are really cute.

On the other hand, we only bought snow boots for the girls one time, when we were going on a winter trip to Washington State.

I usually manage to find some raincoats at the twins club sale, but last year Sarah had her heart set on a YELLOW raincoat WITH A HOOD. I bought a Lands End one on eBay, new with tags, for about half the retail price.

I've never bought official matching sets, though. The girls do have umbrellas, but I discourage their use because someone always get bonked or poked. They also have rain boots because they love them, but in Colorado there's hardly ever an excuse to wear them -- maybe a few times a year. Normally, if we have liquid precipitation, it's either too cold (i.e., sleet) or too hot (summer thunderstorms) for rain coats.

But we definitely have snow boots!

Not sure what size your kids wear but I got my kids' rainboots at Kohl's. They were on sale plus I got 30% off AND free shipping. Each set only cost me $7 each. They go up to size 9/10. I did see raincoats, boots and matching hats at Wal-Mart also.

I'm amused you find it so amusing. Do your kids own snowboots?? Snowsuits or heavy jackets?? Scarves and mittens??

I guess I could say I find it amusing your kids have those things, becuase we never use them and I would never buy those things for my kids.

But then again, we live in VA, where it hardly ever snows. You live in MN, where snow is second nature.

Here, it DUMPS rain, and when there's 4 inches of water on the ground, I'd rather my kids to have dry feet and clothes by the time they get to daycare in the morning. And, with 3 kids under the age of 3, it's quite impossible to carry all them to the car, then into daycare, so as to keep them dry.

It's just a bonus if I can find cutsy-matchy outfits. Plus, my kids LOVE playing with rainboots for some odd reason <Maybe becuase it rains so much here> (they also like to wear the little animal boots we got them that are now to small)

yep, totally agree. We did not get ANY snow this year in the area I live in. Ok, it snowed, but it didn't stick so I don't count that. However, we got TONS of rain. Honestly, I'm pretty sick of the rain.
Anyways, I also bought some cute boots at Kohls last year and they were not expensive at all. However, I don't think they had matching jackets. My girls loved them!
