I thought it was so cute when Colin first said no..but it went from a cute little (naw) to a full on NO! very quick. Just keep thinking it's just a phase

Ah yes, the infamous no. My DS went from "NO" as the answer to everything to "Not yet."

Mine haven't done no yet but Jake shakes his head no. And the cutest thing he says is "oh noooooo" in the sweetest voice  Aly's word is pweez (please) and she feels it should get her anything she asked for. If she doesn't get it then she says pweez over and over while her voice goes higher and higher and squeakier LOL
My baby cousin (4 months younger then the twins) says "stop it" and I can't help but laugh everytime he says it.

Haha, this is the beginning of the end for you, Rachel! :p

My guys mastered the head-shake early; especially Jack. They will also go over to something that they know they shouldn't touch (like an electrical cord) and say "no-no" while they're messing with it. :headbang:

At first I wondered why they say "no" so much, and they never say "yes". Then I realized that they never hear it! We're working on changing that. ;)

I was just thinking about this the other day! I went to a playgroup the other day and was hearing a lot of defiant "no's" from some of the kids. Started wondering why I haven't heard a "no" yet from my kids and realized that I never say it. Seriously, never. I'm not sure why, but I usually say "I don't think so" and "not so much". Wonder how long it will take them to figure out how to say "not so much".

I am still in the think it's cute stage when mine say no, no, no, no and try to hurriedly keep doing what they were (usually before bedtime, leaving somewhere, taking their shoes off(?), etc. I'm sure that when it turns in to a single, defiant no I'm not going to think it is very cute anymore!!!

similar story...logan dropped a toy the other day and i said 'uh-oh'....now he THROWS his sippy cup from his high chair and says 'uh-oh!'....my dh tried to explain (yeah, to a 14 month old) that it's not an uh-oh if you do it on purpose....he says it about 100 times a day now! we're proud and excited he's saying something, but it's definitely a blessing and a curse! :pardon:

Oh no! :) One of mine just learned yes; it has been such a relief.

I always thought that one was kinda funny too - when they learn what uh oh means then proceed to create uh oh moments! I am ashamed to admit that I also taught them oh no because I thought it was funny when my dd said it once and now they do the same thing with oh no - or if ds says uh oh, dd will follow it up with oooohhhh noooo - :rotflmbo: !
