My girls are getting too tall for the size 2-4 tights. I have been looking everywhere for a size 4 but realize they are all 4-6 after the 2-4. Weird, but anyway...

I went to Target yesterday and bought a pair of cable knit and a pair of microfiber in size 4-6 thinking that even if they are a little big it wouldn't be as bad as the saggy pants they are wearing now. When Emma has them on, they don't even cover her butt because she is just so darn tall and stocky.

When I took them out of the package this morning I was a little bit  and :grr: because it makes no sense. I took pics.

Here is a pic of the size 4-6 cable knit (left) and 4-6 microfiber (right). :umm:

    Isn't that nuts??

So...where do you buy tights for your girls after size 2-4??

    That is crazy!

Tights drive me cuckoo! I swear that they will be the death of me!

That is crazy. I don't get it. I have the opposite problem so I don't know if I would be much help. I buy most of mine from gymboree. I like that their big girl size 3's are the same length as 3T but made for those without diaper so they are leaner. Maybe big girl size 4 or 5 would work?

I will definitely try it Jen, thank you! I guess I need to look around a little more for tights that have a smaller size range. Ugh. Good grief!

Julie, where do you buy Katherine's? She's tall too so I imagine you run into the same ting? Have you found ANY that fit well?

Are your girls able to get tights up and down by themselves? I'm impressed! I avoided tights for years because Nadia couldn't manage them....just now is she able to do it, but she hates them. She prefers going to school with just bike shorts and knee socks under her uniform jumper even in 30-degree weather (and they play outside twice a day), because she doesn't want to mess with tights.

That said, I love the look of cute patterned tights under dresses. I do opt to buy leggings more often, though.

It looks like those tights were just mislabeled?

ETA -- We have cable knit tights from Kohl's that work pretty well. Nadia is very tall and slim (about 47 pounds and 50+ inches), and she wears the 7-10 size comfortably. And, Karina is 38 pounds and 40+ inches, and she wears the 4-6. They're a little big, but not much!

    Oh heck no.

I do buy a fair amount of leggings to wear under dresses. :good: But for church and under skirts, I prefer to put tights on them.

I was thinking the same but I bought 2 pairs of each kind and they are exactly the same.

Emma is 38 pounds and 41 inches, so right around the same size as Karina. I will definitely check them out. Thank you!!!

Children's Place and Landsend. Sarah's tall and skinny and it was an experience like that that sent me looking around. Landsend has a wide variety of sizes and the don't try and cram 3-4 sizes in one pair of tights. The quality has always been good. I also will buy Children's Place tights now and they seem to fit well also. I've only ever had problems with CP tights when they've had metallic threads in them. Then they turned into something awful. It was like the insides of the legs became velcroed to each other and on the outside every possible thing that could stick to them did and somehow it became impossible to get them on without twisting.

Sarah can't put them on by herself, but once they are on she can do just fine with the bathroom and pulling them up and down for that.

Looks like something got packaged wrong to me. Can you take that pair back?

I have the opposite problem too (I have to buy 2T tights for my 4-year-olds), but I too am mystified by the sizing. There's a huge jump from one size to the next! Amy often wears tights that are either slightly too small or way too big.

Becca, yes, Amy can get her tights up & down by herself -- but she is highly motivated, as she refuses to wear anything except dresses and tights, ever. She even wears tights to bed under her nightgown.

I'm the oddball because I wasn't surprised. The microfiber tights are made to stretch :tease: and the knit ones just hold their shape, so of course the knit would be much bigger. I know that when I get a pair of stockings for myself, if I hold them up, the legs barely reach below my knees, but they stretch to fit.

I went and looked at Anna's to see how much of a difference there were with hers. I had a pair of never-been-worn microfiber tights still in the package, a pair of microfiber tights that have been worn several times, and a pair of knit tights. The never-been-worn pair was shorter than the already-worn pair by about an inch and the knit tights were two inches longer than the worn pair. So there was a difference of about 3 inches. Doesn't look much different than the pictures. :pardon:

That's what I was thinking too. Have you tried them on your girls yet? Maybe they'll fit better than they look like they will.

That's what I was thinking as well.

I buy Caroline microfiber tights from Target and they look super small coming out of the package, but they always stretch to fit her.

For Emilie I have still been getting her the cable knit ones from Kohl's. :good: She is almost 40 3/4 inches (was just measured at the dr. Monday), she can still wear her 2-4 from Kohl's, but they are a bit saggy, especially after she pulls them up herself. They will be fine for her for the rest of winter though. Then we'll move the 4-6x in the fall/winter.

I usually bought our tights @ Please Mum.

    They are nice & thick.

The thick ones from Carter's and the thin ones from TCP fit her OK.

Lately she hasn't been much of a dress wearer.

Oh Carter's! I didn't even think to look there. I'm also going to try TCP ones and get some cable knit from Kohl's. THANK LADIES!!! :bow2:

I'm with Stacy they should stretch. We do leggings and socks. Its easier for the girls to go to the potty by themselves

Michelle, where did you buy them? Duh! :slap: I just saw where you bought them...Target! Sorry! ;) Did you try them on her? I'd try them on just to make sure they don't fit before you go anywhere else. B/c like Stacy said maybe they'll stretch.

However, I usually buy a size bigger anyway with the microfiber ones just b/c Renay has really long legs. I think Rachel is going to be that way too and I'll start that when I notice there is a need for that.

As for where I get them, I get them at Target or WalMart. I hope you get them to work or find some that do!!!
