Hello :)

Hi everyone, seems like we're hitting a draught in here again (okay and I'm also to blame not posting regularly). I was VERY bored monday morning and just as I started browsing and wanted to post some students showed up and I had to give them a course on ERP, was fun at the end but not so fun to give a class unprepared. I'm at a new client again - at least this time it is close to headquarters so I don't have to travel as much as last year. There is still a chance that I'll be going to Cape Town for a project later this year (would love that!)

Any news from you guys?

No, it is the same as normal here at the moment. I take it Brenda is still having problems with internet access?

 

Not a lot new here, getting things ready for uni which starts not this monday but the next, have orientation on tuesday which shall be fun to meet new people Doctors tomorrow, which I dislike!

Shes a very busy individual who makes an apperance once in a while for that we should be greatful

 

The job would be way better without kids, parents, school staff and co-workers.

My new years resolution was to not get any plastic bags when shopping. Its not so bad in the grocery since most have gone to pay for bags but in department and mall stores its hard. I have several fold up ones in my coat pocket.

 

I was just going to post a topic here this week as there has been like no action here for awhile. lol. My life isnt good at all at the moment. I am having an extremely tough time with this treatment. other than that im trying to work towards sitting my final exam for my entry into university unit. This is really just taking its toll. Not enjoying life at all. Sorry for being such a downer guys. I hope you guys are all doing great. I have posted a couple updates on what the doctors have all said and how its going in Twinstuff Club.

 

At least I'm posting but I agree, I should make more time for it.

Yip, unfortunately, and it doesn't sound like she'll get internet soon, probably only after they've moved (which is in March or end this month, will find out and let you know, haven't spoken to her in ages!).

Codie are you looking forward to university? I think you'll enjoy it, for me it was a lot better than school. Why are you going to the docters? hope everything is fine

So what have you all been reading recently? Adrian and Richard you should be happy to hear I'm reading another Bryce Courtenay book (the power of one) and enjoying it a lot!

My final exam is on the 5th of march so a couple weeks away.. im not going to be finished this treatment but i hope to sit it and just get this unit out the way. It just seems like it dragging on.. Even though I wont go onto my Bachelor of Education straight after. I have made the decision to take as much time off as I need to so I can recover and get back on my feet. And who knows when that will be, surgery is definately the next step if this plaster treatment doesnt work Its so true, if u dont have your health you dont have anything. I finally handed in my 2nd essay today, such a relief. it was supposed to be due on the 5th of Feb but i got as long of an extention i needed, as long as it was in before the exam date. So far for my assignments in this uni i have gotten: 3 High Distinctions and 1 Distiniction. Good, but I need to pass this essay and survive this exam. Im just so exhasted, tired and sore.. its really just too much. The Down side though is I have so much revision to do for this exam and I feel like doing none of it.. And there goes another negative post from me. But seriously I just feel like my life is being wasted, its the most fun, important stage of my life, prime really. Being 18, making decisions, going places, getting into uni all that stuff and i cant enjoy it.. Anyway, thats enough from me...

Are you trying to read all his books now to make up for list time? I have read the Power of One, I liked it... then again I don't think I disliked any of Bryce Courtenay's books I have read. I am reading "Dreamscapes" by Tamara McKinley at the moment. This was the previous book I read. It wasn't bad but I've read better books.

 

I cannot wait, been off since November, need to learn and communicate with people again! lol. To recieve results from a bloodtest, nothing to worry about not stressing since I know what it is. A friend was freaking out more then me :blink:

Sadly nothing, the last book I read was called blood ties, good book though. The Power of One is a great book, sad story though.

 

LOL, I always knew Telkom was even worse news then I thought Okay, so I sms'ed Bren so that I can give you an accurate and full update, this is what she replied (I'll translate): Okay she sais that she doesn't really have answers or any set dates and it's very frustrating, they want to move as soon as possible (to Cape Town) but they're waiting for job opportunities (which should'nt be too hard to find). They can improve the signal at their current house for internet but they will have to install a tower and at this stage it is too expensive since their budget is very small now after the theft over the holidays. She misses you all a lot and feels like miserable because as you all know she's very addicted to TS and is feeling ashamed because she can't do her moderator duties.

Hope that answers all the questions? BTW Andre received his master degree result he just missed he's distinction so we're very proud of him, he did well

Hi Tamara, sometimes it is warranted that you feel a bit negative, so don't worry about venting here, just wish we could do something to help. Congrats on your good results and for handing in the essay on time! Let us know how the exams went, hopefully your pain will at least be less by then even if your still on the treatment

Which Wilbur Smith book are you reading Adrian?

It took me long enough to finally read a Bryce Courtenay so I might as well catch up now Haven't heard of Tamara McKinley before, which types/genre of books does she write? Salamander Cotton sounds like an interesting read if you just read the overview, pity it wasn't as good as you expected

 

Sorry missed your post for some reason Codie, Yes usually after such a long holiday you just need to start university/school/work again, it does get boring, and it is a new start so I'm sure the exitement of starting in a new place and all the new experiences also play a role. I'm glad that it is nothing serious then and that you're still healthy

 

Why do all of you want to move to Cape Town so much? When are you moving there Gerda? It would be good if they can move soon though.

So very boring, plus most of my frends have moved away for uni already so I need to make more friends Been doing work at mums work but its getting annoying now as there are heaps of kids there now who are loud and such. I dislike youths ok annoyng ones.

 

I can see how it is annoying but if you are working on a goat farm you can expect to have a few kids running around...

That was preliminary plans they also had at a stage (going to Dubai) but that was before the marriage and they've changed their minds since (I think, might still do it someday? Don't know), I think the main thing is just that they want to get away from Potch again and we like Cape Town because of the people and way of life there. There is a lot more opportunities for outdoor sports and locations for climbing, kloofing etc and unlike Pretoria it's not a long drive to get new scenery or a new cliff to climb. and yes, the plans are that CP and I will live there for at least 2 years someday, but we'll see when the time comes if it is possible or the best option, so no definate plans as of yet for me

The theft was in Malawi and Zambia over the holidays,all their luggage were stolen, think I posted something on FB about it but not sure I did here. Anyways, they lost a lot of stuff, Brenda only had the clothes she was wearing at the time (she always packs everything on holiday for the 'just in case') so she is still replacing her clothes as well as the video camera and other valuables that were stolen

Yip, I think it is hard to work with children, especially if it's not your preferred occupation (or your own children). Still admire how good Bren is with children, you need a lot of patience

That is probably why I don't remember it being mentioned, I never read anything on EB ( ). Doesn't sound particularly enjoyable though! I suppose that is one of the risks you take if you pack everything when you go somewhere.

Yes, I have read two of her other books before. I have liked the books I have read of hers, this one has been good so far too.

I didn't hear about the theft either but then, I don't have good recall of anything sometimes. Tell Brenda not to worry about the modding, but I would really go crazy if I couldn't get online.

What about her lato? Brenda, that is why you shouldn't carry everything with you! Wouldn't insurance cover most of the replacement cost though? Our home insurance covers things that are stolen elsewhere as long as they would normally be kept at home.
