ok so i posted a few days ago about how my menstral cycle has been extra long this month and was wondering how everyone else's were. well today marks the 11th day that i have been bleeding, with NO end in site. everyday there is blood with ovulation type fluids on the tampon.

i called my OB's office on thursday she said to take a pregnancy test so i sent DH out to the store he got a digital one. it was negative. i had to go out later so i bought a regular stick test since i seem to think they are more sensitive. saw one line. well friday marked the official 10th day of bleeding so i thought i would do it again and saw the faintest of line, i mean super duper light. i called the OB and she ordered blood work since that was the best way to detect even the smallest amount of hormone levels. so i rushed to lab and got it done and they assured me that they would have an answer before close of business. i should also note that my appetite has significantly increased since the start of this blood flow, it may be coincidental but i'm scared to death. i pray that this is all just coincidence...

i called the oB at 3pm, the results of the test were sitting on their fax machine but tha the OB hadn't pulled my chart to look at it but would call within the hour - nothing. i called again and go figure the office was closed.

so now i wait until monday to see what it says. this has not been a heavy flow and as had minor cramping since day 1 11 days ago. there is no end in sight for the blood flow to stop.

either i am pregnant, this ia a micarriage or there is something wrong with my hormones.

i've had normal 4-5 day periods 4 times since giving birth 6 months ago. this is the first time this has happened. my blood work was checked a few weeks ago for aneimia and thryoid and those came back 100% normal.

i'm worried. 11 days of bleeding is not normal. i hate the fact that the stupid OB never called like thy said they would.

 Keep us posted. 11 days of bleeding is a long time and I am glad you contacted your OB. I would be scared and upset that I have to wait a weekend to know what is going on and what to do next.

 What kind of test did you take when you saw the faint line? Was it a pink dye test or a blue dye test? I've gotten many a faint line false positive on the blue tests. It seems like every time I take one of those tests I think I'm pregnant...and I'm not.

I'm not sure about the pregnancy test, but shortly after having her fourth child my girlfriend was having the same issues with her period. They were SUPER long and she was having them non-stop....at one point she bled close to a month straight. She did go to the OB and I can't remember the exact name for what she had, but they had to give her a drug that would basically stop her period all together.

The good news is it wasn't anything life threatening and she didn't require any type of surgery. After talking to you OB on Monday, if you still don't get any answers let me know and I can get more of the exact details from my girlfriend.

I know it's hard, but try not to think about it being a pregnancy. A twin pregnancy can be very hard on your body, my doctor told me it takes about 2 years for your body to completely heal so it may be nothing.

Oh hun  I am glad that you went to the doc but am sorry they didn't get back to you :grr: how frustrating, don't they know what waiting like this does to a woman?!?! Maybe even though your other periods seemed normal a regular cycle/pattern hasn't quite set itself yet since giving birth and this is what that is. I hope everything is alright, definitely keep us posted!

I'm SO SORRY that you have to wait- it's inhumane to do that to people.

    Keep us posted.

Was the faint line colored at all or more grayish? How soon did it show up? It could be an evap line.

Your body can change a lot after a pregnancy. Your hormones may still be sitting around trying to figure out what to do with themselves. I've definitely had some differences after pregnancy.

Hope it's nothing - good luck.

When was your last period before this? When is the last time you and dh had sex? That could help a lot of issues out. A lot of people have complained on other sites about getting false positives with FR. I personally haven't but other people had a blood test and came back <5 when they got a + result. If it really kills you and you have to know try taking another test tomorrow morning. If its still + or darker you will know your answer. If you are pg and bleeding the line should be a little darker. If its neg then you know you are okay. I know a lot of people where it has taken months to get back to a somewhat normal schedule. Did you breastfeed at all?

That happened to me once. They gave me pills to "restart" my period to get it back on track. No biggy-try not to worry.

    nope no breastfeeding.

the line is faint but it's there and it's not gray it's super duper light pink. for the last 11 days i've been bleeding, no major cramping and after the first day it has been light with discharge along with blood.

i don't want to be pregnant, it' WAY to soon!the boys' are only 6 months old!!!!!

yes, DH and i have had sex recently not 100% safe start w/o condoms, finish w/one...

i've had 4-5 regular periods since delivery, very heavy but only lasting 3-5 days with litte to no cramping or warning...never longer than 5 days though and i've certainly never had one last 11 days!

it's just killing me to know, there are so many different things that could be the cause you know? damn doctors!

so sorry for the drama... with the dr not getting back to you. can you go to the lab yourself and pick up the results? I know if I get mine taken at the hospital, I can usually go back and get the results at the same location myself... but if they took the blood at the doc's office, you probably can't.

I hope its just something wacky with your system that is an easy fix. good luck staying calm the rest of the weekend.

FWIW, my periods used to be totally regular and 5 days long, like clockwork. Ever since I had my kids, they have been getting more and more irregular... now, it's typical for them to be 10+ days long. :( I've seen a few different docs and they all basically say either deal with it or go on BCPs (I've been on several brands and hated them all!). There's no possibility of pregnancy/miscarriages here, either! Hopefully you're just (un)lucky like me, and you're not pregnant or miscarrying.

I feel ya, my last dd was only 6.5 months when we got preggo with the twins. Because I had had it with trying to inperpret that dang line when trying to get preggo before, I bought one of those digital ones that says pregnant or not pregnant (I love that commercial hahaha anyway...) that may be a way to go if you can't stand the waiting or if you are worried it could be a miscarriage you could go to emerg.

this makes me feel A LOT better, hopefully this is just what the problem is although if the solution is b/c and hormones then guess i'll just deal with long periods b/c me+hormones=insane, no good.
