Should I be hearing baba consistently?

So I noticed the other day that a baby at daycare who is the same age as Henry and Jacob will babble "dadadadaa or babababbaba" constantly. 1. Neither Henry nor Jacob talk constantly, they are mainly quiet. If they do make sounds, they are doing Ahhhs and OOohs". 2. Infrequently, they will do a mama or baba or dada. Should it be consistent or are they still too young (6 months). My older son is no help because he started talking (using words with intent) at 7 months and hasn't stopped since. I know I am not supposed to compare but I am

 

I think they are a bit young to get worried yet. If they have started with the aaahhhs & oooohs, the consonants will likely follow soon but all babies seem to start at their own pace.

 

I think they are really young to hear anything consistently. Mine werent really consistent with consonants until closer to the end of the first year.

 

Mine were the same, consonants sounds were very infrequent for my two at 6 months.

 

still young. You really have until a year to hear those sounds. I think it occurs 6-12 months.

 

One of my girls says "mamamamama" all of the time. The other says "whoa". I think every baby is really different. I definitely don't think its a concern. At this age, I think they are just more fond of different sounds they make. I get excited when C says "mamamama" so I think thats why she does it

 

Still young, and boys will talk later as well. I wouldnt worry

 

Agree with PPs. Seems like mine coo'd and said mamamamamama and that is about it until a couple months ago.

 

Definitely too early to worry. DS just started doing ba-ba-ba and mum-mum-mum in the past week or two and DD still just squeals and makes little sounds with her tongue and lips...and they are almost 8 months old. If they are making eye contact and using non-verbal communication then you know their language is developing.
