my LO's do not show any signs of crawling. is there anything i should be doing to egg them on a bit? i lay them down on their knees and they plop down and hate it! its like tummy time alll over again!
should i be concerned that my LO's arent crawling?

I wouldn't be concerned at all. At 8 months my boys were barely sitting up on their own. They'll get it one day and there will be no looking back! :)

I wouldn't be concerned. For one thing, they are still really young. Many babies do not crawl until they are much older. For another, some babies never really crawl, they go straight to walking. I don't think most doctors count crawling as any kind of official milestone at all, since not all babies will do it.

If you want to encourage them to move, though, I would always put mine on their bellies & put a toy that they like just barely out of their reach (only until they start to get a bit frustrated, I didn't want to torture them! ). Once they start trying to push a bit with their feet, you can put your hand there to give them something to push against so that they can get the idea of moving.

I agree with this. My DD did not crawl until her 8th month and my DS did not crawl until he was 10.5 months old.

My twins just turned 8 months on the first. My girl has no interest whatsoever to be on her tummy, she likes to sit by herself. Every time I put her on her tummy she just automatically rolls onto her back. My boy will stay on his tummy for a few minutes and starts to sway but that is all. I wouldn't be concerned at all.

I agree with Tina. My twin boy was army crawling already at 8 months, but his sister didn't start army crawling until 8.5 months. By 9 months he was crawling on hands and knees and she didn't start that until about 3 weeks ago, around 10.5-11 months.

It's still pretty early for crawling. My DD was crawling at 8 months and DS didn't crawl until 10 months. Even though DS has been a little later on the milestones than DD, once he starts he does it really well. Now I'd say they are totally even.

Evan didn't crawl until he was 11 months. 8 months is still VERY early.

    8 months is early!!!

My DDs were 11 and 13 months for real crawling. Even adjusting for preemie--- that is closer to 9 & 11 months. Your guys were a month early, give it more time!

Same here, my boys started to crawl when they were almost 9.5 months.

My youngest twin is crawling... has been for some time. But she's always been just WAY ahead and it's hard not to compare her sister to her milestones. My older twin girl is nowhere near crawling. She decided it'd be easier to go from Point A to Point B by rolling to there.. so tummy to back, back to tummy, etc. till she gets to where she wants. It's rather funny and I am not too worried!

I agree it's early, but also remember worrying about the same thing when my boys were 8 months. Ryan started army crawling around 9.5 months and then 2 weeks later figured out how to get up on his knees. Jake was smart and would just pull on the blanket he was on to get the toy he wanted closer. He didn't really army crawl but started crawling a few weeks after seeing his brother crawling around.
