What an aweful day

I don't know what took over my daughter today, but Man...she was horrific today. No fever or any signs of illness.

Her naps were only like 30 minutes each (usually like 1 hr to 1.5 hours). I would try and soothe, but that made her scream even louder so I just put her back to bed and tried to let her cry it out for a little while...no luck. After about 10 minutes of letting her cry, I'd go in there and put my hand on her chest (not making any eye contact), but that didn't work either. This went on for all 3 naps today...by the 3rd nap, she had puffy eyes from crying and being tired.

I dunno. It was aweful and I was soooo losing my patience today and felt like a schmuck for doing so. No mater what I did today, nothing worked and it pissed me off honestly...Her naps have been getting worse over the past week culminating today....I'm afraid of what tomorrow will bring.

I felt so angry today I actually had to call my husband and tell him to come home from work (30 minutes earlier than normal)...I just needed time away from the crying...when he came home, I took a long hot shower...felt better...however, I get a feeling it's gonna be a loooooong night.

    WTH?????

For the past 3 days, I've been trying to extend their awake time by like 10 to 15 minutes with the hopes of extending them from a 3 hour feeding schedule to 4 hours because they don't seem hungry every 3 hours...they are fighting to take like 3 or 4 oz's max....so my thoughs are to try and move them gradually to a 4 hour feeding schedule so they will eat more without a fight. Well, the jokes on me...this is a tough habit to break, but feeding every 3 hours isn't working either...it's a painful feed and the fuss the whole time and don't eat that much.

    Very very frustrated today.

Feeling like a bad Mommy today.

 If she is inconsolable maybe a visit to the pedi wouldn't hurt, even if she isn't running a fever. What if she has an ear infection?

Maybe its teething, i really think thats' whats up with my girl, although she was the cranky one fron birth heehee, ;) I too have been this close to calling dh to come home before, good for you, you have to do what you have to do with twins especially!!! I hope tomorrow is better!

You're not a bad mommy! These kids are hard to figure out. It might be teething or gas or a cold or just a bad day, we have plenty of those here. Hopefully tomorrow is better.

I'm sorry it's been such a rough day. Don't be too hard on yourself. I've had plenty of moments and I've even been know to drop an F-bomb at my darlings during some particularly frustrating nights (which is very, very uncharacteristic of me). I've totally done the calling the husband "please come home now" thing more than a few times too. Does she seem like she could have gas or a tummy ache? She would be a little early for teeth, but it's not impossible. I think sometimes babies just have grumpy days too.

You are not a bad mommy! This is a tough age and babies in general are a mystery. It could be anything or nothing creating a situation when we feel inadequate. But you are not! Just tired and had a bad day. If it goes on like this it may not be a bad idea to discuss with the pedi.

My DS has been this way for the past week and come to find out he is teething. It can be awful. Yesterday was my bad day and I felt like an awful mommy. Today is a little better but my mom has been out here a couple times helping me so that made it better! Hope tomorrow is a lot better for you!

 It could be the beginning of teething or it could be something else. If it continues beyond a couple of days, it might not hurt to get her ears checked. Ear infections tend to hurt more when they are lying down which could explain the awful naptimes.

I feel better knowing that I'm not the only mommy to use the F-bomb on rare occasions with the babies, LOL. A few weeks ago I had a few particularly BAD nights with the boys. That is when they were consistently waking up between 4:15am and 4:45am, every morning, after also having a few night wakings as well. And after giving them their bottles at the butt crack of dawn and trying to pacify Colin by dangling toys over his head (agitated that he wouldn't hold them himself) and him still fussing non-stop but refusing to nap I called him a "whiney little b*tch"...a couple of times :woah: I felt bad and made up with the boys by doting on them all day afterwards (after getting in a couple of cat naps to make me feel human again). Anyway, the point is don't beat yourself up for having these feelings! It's NORMAL. And you were totally justified in calling your DH. My DH and I know our jobs are to keep each other in line and try to keep the other from going over the edge when its been a really bad night/week. I've had to go and take a baby from him on several occasions too when I could tell he was ready to snap (we alternate who is "first responder" every night). So as long as you two are always there for each other, and can step back and see the situation for what it is (a ridiculously stressful time that sometimes causes you to snap at each other but that will eventually pass) then everything will work out fine. Hang in there girlie! :friends:

Ok..here's my bad mom bad wife crazy day. I was fatigued, irritable, and I think PMSing 2 months ago.

I couldn't even stand the fussy babies, and I am usually very patient. I loaded them in the car drove to my hubby's job, with babies and all broke down and started crying. He spoke to his boss who cleary thought that I was mentally unstable at that moment, and sent him home early.

I slept the rest of the afternoon after being lectured that I can't pull that bleep again.

That was not my intention, but it had a good result.

We have all had those days, but I was at my breaking point....rather than lose my cool any further I was an embarassment too hub.

    Hope all is well soon.

I absolutely agree w/ the ear infection deal. Go get that checked out. That is what it was 100% of the time here when sleep went weird!! Check just to be safe!!
