When did you really start to feel tired?

I've posted a couple of times on this topic but I wanted some opinions. I'm almost 27 weeks with di/di twin girls and I've been working full-time. I'm being checked weekly by ultrasound at this point because of the frequency of my braxton-hicks.. a couple of weeks ago my cervix had started to shorten but then it went back to normal length (Thank God!). Also wanted to add that Baby B has dropped to 35th percentile. I would LOVE to know if this is all normal and I just need to suck it up or if I'm sitting on a "ticking time bomb"...

I've been working full-time at a very on my feet type of job (I'm a therapist that works with children). I'm usually okay at the beginning of the week but by the end of the week I seriously can't move. I've always been the type to fight through fatigue but this is something I've never experienced before (never brought a pregnancy this far!!!! =) My braxton hicks are totally crazy by Thursday/Friday but the doctor isn't concerned because my cervix is within normal limits. I mentioned at last week's appointment that I was feeling very rundown but the doctor kind of smiled and said.. well that's what we expect- you are carrying two babies. She suggested naps during the day, but I can't nap at work and I get home around 6:30 and am usually asleep by 8:30.

I'm worried I'm hurting our girls and just need some reassurance. Thanks ladies!

I am also having di/di twin girls and finished work a few weeks ago - although I still have to run around after 2 other children!!
About a week ago I started experiencing extreme tiredness even though my night sleeps haven't been any worse than normal. I have just put it down to being in the 3rd trimester!?

I do have a question though. For my 2 single deliveries, I had to have c/sections and so never really experienced 'natural' labour & deliveries. What do you think braxton hicks really feel like? I have been getting a pain on 1 side a few times and don't really know if thats anything or just a baby resting on something.

This probably isn't what you want to hear, but I would advocate for extreme caution. No, no formal studies have shown that bedrest or slowing down helps keep babies in. Who would sign up to be the experimental group for such a thing. I would say though, that your body is telling you to slow down. When you have all those BH contractions... the feeling of tiredness... now is not the time to press on & push through. Your body is working SUPER hard & needs some slack to grow those kids properly.

As to scientific recommendations about work & twin mommy capacity: I followed Dr. Barbara Luke's book about twin pregnancy & highly recommend it. She knew more about twin pregnancies than my OB & was more helpful than any of the peris I saw.

    Good luck!

I have to agree with the previous poster, and this book is great. Dr. Luke would definitely tell you to slow down -- it's not easy, but it's for the long-term health of your babies.

I have been on bedrest since 25 weeks, so I can't say much about being tired. But I do have gestational diabetes too (lucky me!) and everyone I've talk to who's had it says the diet gave them tons more energy. You might want to consider adjusting what you eat. Basically it's about eating lots of protein, fewer carbs, and *always* whole grain.

So for breakfast I had an omelet with avocado and salsa, plus whole wheat toast and some milk.

Then I'll have a snack soon, yogurt with a tbsp of grape nuts cereal.

Then I'll have lunch, a salad and a sandwich (on whole wheat).

Then I'll have another snack, probably a cut-up apple with almond butter (instead of peanut butter because I don't want to expose the kiddos to peanuts).

Then I'll have dinner, not sure what that will be yet. :) Definitely protein and veggies.

Then I'll have a final snack, or what I like to think of as "dessert" -- some Nilla wafers and milk.

    Good luck!

Thank you so much for your input Ladies! After a very long week last week I went for a hair appointment on Saturday and actually called to have my hubby drive me home I was that tired. I have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow and even if he doesn't say to slow down, then I am going to slow down anyway.. too risky not to!!!
