I am almost embarrassed to admit this but here goes.

My dad is in the hospital (an acute care hospital where the girls can go but stay in the lounge and dad can come to the lounge to visit). Today I was standing at the nurses desk answering questions about dad's health when A&A decided to get down on the floor and act like dinosaurs. I told them more than once to get up and finally grabbed Ava and pulled her up. Now the embarrassing part. Clear as a bell, Addison says Mommy, why are you being an a** hole
    woah:

I will say that I did use that word several weeks ago during a moment of road rage, but I swear A&A were asleep! :unknw:

have your little ones used any bad words?

mine can't pronounce anything very well, but one has repeated both the f word and the sh word after i've said them to myself...... oops!

this is a hard thing for me because swearing has never bothered me, and i've always done it more than most. however, i do understand that it offends some people, so i try to limit it.... but it's not easy!

My girls haven't because I learned a very valuable lesson from my son. I yelled s**t when a car pulled out in front of me when he was about three, and when my son went on a road trip with my parents he yelled out the same thing when a car pulled out in front of my parents...well, I immediately got a phone call after he tattled on me and told them, "Mommy said it" If he wouldn't have been such a tattle tail I wouldn't have gotten in trouble!

    OMG, Heather, that's hilarious! :rotflmbo:

I've gotten very lucky and they haven't parroted too many of my slip-ups. Except one day when I said "Crap!" really loud and they were in earshot, and they spent the rest of the day strutting around saying, "CRAP!" (Luckily, it got old fast.)

I read that to my husband and he started laughing, and then asked "well, did she answer the question?" - I guess all men think alike, eh?

We are having an argument in our house if bad words in another language are still bad words here - for example, my sister-in-law said in the car the other day "it's so bloody hot in here, turn down the heat" and the girls started repeating "bloody hot, bloody hot". My understanding is that bloody is not the nicest word in England (anyone from there help me out?) and I keep telling her and my DH not to use it around the girls. Anyway, don't mean to hijack your post - just got me thinking.

Well DS2 is a big fan of Mama Mia the movie, he knows all the songs and all. The other day while i was giving him and DS1 their bath, he was singing one of them and then blurts out "just because i was a silly little sl*t" in an angelic little voice[IMG] [IMG][IMG] [IMG] [IMG] . It's actually a line in the movie (the only bad word in it, and it's actually a shame they used that word).

Oh yes, they are at the stage where they repeat anything! They've said sh*t after I said it and f**k after my husband said it. I try to refrain from swearing in front of the girls but my husband has no control at all.

Oh yeah, one day DH dropped something and said, "Oh sh--!" and not even two minutes were two little voices repeating it.

Am I really going to admit this...
A few months ago, after being at my sisters and seeing their cousin have a temper tantrum, the following morning S said, "That f***ing (name of cousin) went into her room and closed the door." I said "what". He said, that f***ing was mad and was yelling. I almost passed out. I decided not to address it and hoped it was never said again. Then weeks later, they were playing with their little people farm and he said, "The f***ing pig goes on the top of the barn." I said "What did you say." And he again said something about the f***ing animal! At that time, I did say we never say that word and we talked about how it is a bad word to say. He has not said it since and it was been many weeks since he last said it. N however, has tried to say it but thankfully, he never got the actual word and every once in awhile will say "hecking" and look at me for a reaction. I just said to him we dont say that word. I am so glad he never got the actual word because I could see him continue to say it!

I was pretty much completely disgusted with myself. Major lesson learned for me.

Yep, my DD says that to me all the time when I say "stupid" about an object. :gah:

:rotflmbo: Sorry but that is very funny!

So, Tyler came out wet from his nap one day. I immediately when running into his room to see if it had leaked all the way to the mattress. I lifted up the sheets, and muffled f**k, under my breath. Well, Tyler was standing right there. So he said, f**k muffled too. I ignored it. Then he started saying it on occasion. Still ignoring, but my DH is laughing because I always yell at him for his mouth saying that I am the one that will be in the grocery store when they say "it." About 2 weeks ago, both boys were using the "f" word in front of my DD. She came running to me and said, "that Tyler and Derek were shouting made up words!" I havent heard them say it since.

Yes, not often, but they have. And I just try to ignore, while I try my hardest not to laugh. :pardon:

 These are some funny stories! I needed the laugh this morning.

I haven't heard mine repeat a bad word yet. However, they are really into Thomas the train. One of the favorite trains is Percy. Well, let's just say it doesn't come out sounding exactly like it should. :FIFblush:

:slap: just joking!!!! sounds like he and Travis would be great friends!

I am glad I am not the only one who has little ones that have used bad words! Addison has a hard time with the tr sound - it comes out a the f sound so about 6 months ago, we were out to eat when she shouts "*uck mommy"!!!! not once but several times! our table was near the window and she had seen a truck go by :woah:

another one who is ashamed to admit....

my kids favorite word recently is a$$hole - Ian will look at Abby, get a gleam in his eye and call her an a$$hole, and then the 2 of them crack up laughing...so then she looks at him and tells him he's stupid...more laughing ensues...

so I've told them multiple times not to use that language (admittedly they do get it from Tony and I) and the one day Abby looks at me all sweetly and says "thats right mommy a$$hole is a bad word but daddy said dammit is ok"...I had to walk away because I was nearly roaring with laughter...

oh and the funniest one yet...one day I went to get in the shower with Abby and there was an empty shampoo bottle in the shower...she stuck it out of the shower curtain and asked what it was...(I was on the toilet)...I said "its an empty shampoo bottle" to which she replied "its empty...SON OF A B!TCH" in the same tone of voice my father uses....I nearly fell off the pot I was laughing so hard and telling her "we don't say that Abigail"...and she goes...."ohhhh thats a bad word....and yells "holy cow and a sheep" not sure where she got that one but my husband and I laughed for an hour!

Love.it!!!! I am going to start saying this :D

My girls haven't really repeated much aside from sh!t once or twice. Oops! I'm surprised though because Dh and I have potty mouths, but we are working hard to not say things in front of the girls.

Anna said "D**n" once. Both DH and I just stared at her for a second completely shocked. Neither DH or I ever cuss, so we can only guess that she got it from one of us watching something on TV when we thought they weren't paying attention. We just explained that it was a bad word that we do not use and she shouldn't say it again. She was really upset, but we told her she wasn't in trouble because she didn't know, she just can't say it again. She hasn't since.

:rotflmbo: <-- with tears in my eyes.

I've been able to control almost everything but, "Damn it!" which I do say far too often. The other day I was looking for a parking space at the rec center and I had to drive past the full parking lot. From the back seat, Jack says, "Damn it!". I don't think I'd even said, "shoot." It scares me how appropriately they use it...it would be bad enough if they just yelled it out at inopportune moments.

Is it bad that mine were running around all nite last nite hitting things w/ hammers screaming "Holy F*ck, Holy F*ck.." over and over and over..?

NOT a good sign, I'm assuming.

    You asked.

I must admit that one of mine has said "sh!t" a couple of times... but thankfully, it's been limited and not a chronic issue! Boy did I feel awful when I heard it... :FIFblush:

:rotflmbo: These stories are just too funny!

They have picked up stupid from kids at preschool, and they will say that occasionally. We just tell them that is not a very nice word and we don't like when they use it. We never swear around them, we've just never been ones to swear much.

 You guys are killing me with these stories, too funny!

Actually bloody is looked on as an pretty mild bad word (at least in my experience). I'm not sure I'd want a toddler using it but I wouldn't think twice about hearing it from, say, an 8 year old. From being on this site I thought it was seen as a stronger swear word in the US than it is here. People here also consider h*ll and damn to be only mildly bad words (again only from my personal experience compared to what I've read on this site).
