I need an umbrella stroller for flying and quick trips. I have a double jogger already, but I will never check it and its quiet humongous to just haul around. I was looking at the jeep side by side because its cheaper than the others. Its definitely not going to get heavy use, mostly just flying. Does anyone have this stroller? Would it work for this purpose or should I shell out the 200 and get the Combi SBS?

If it's just for occasional use, I would say yes. I had it, and didn't love it, but did take it on a plane and it survived. If you want it for everyday use, I would go with a Combi.

Since they are so young (and not heavy yet!) have you thought about getting a single umbrella stroller and then carry the other in a baby carrier? I have one (cost is $30) and use that and the baby carrier to get around. Then you are a bit more mobil in large crowds and don't get stopped too often being asked about twin questions too.

I found a Combi on Craigslist for $80 and I love it. It is so lightweight and easy to fold up and carry. If you can find a used one, I highly recommend it. We are taking it on our trip to FL next month. We also ended up using it as our everyday stroller too and got rid of our Graco Duoglider.

Totally agree. If you are going to use it more, I would get a "real" SBS.

you could always get 2 cheap ones and those stroller connectors that clip them together if you just want it for a few times.

We have the Jeep SBS and love it. Yes, it's not the fanciest stroller out there, but for $80 it's a great deal and works perfect for us. We've taken it everywhere- the zoo, outdoor music festivals, the mall, etc and it can take a beating. The sunshade is a POC so we just took it off (it just clips on anyway) but the reclining seats are nice.
It's small and lightweight. Since we drive a Prius, most double strollers are out of the question because they will not fit in the trunk.

I tried to look for a double umbrella stroller but I couldn't find anything cheap. Well, I came up with something.

I bought two umbrella strollers at Wal-Mart at $15 each and got Prince Lionheart Stroller Connectors at Toys R Us for $10. They are molded plastic connectors that easily snap onto stroller tubes to turn 2 strollers into an instant double tandem stroller. They snap in and out in matter of seconds, no fancy installation techniques or tools needed.

It's actually quite a neat idea. Total cost $40.
