We are on 4 bottles a day...which is a dream compared to the 7 we were at a week ago. Sometimes the girls drink 6-7 oz at once, but usually about 4 and then about 1/2 hour later I offer again and they come close to finishing the rest. Soooo..I thought I would try Level III nipples (we were on Level II) because they are sooo distractible and if one girl finishes then the other is done, etc. Well, they are pretty fast flowing. My veteran bottle drinker has no problem at all and I'm a little scared at how fast she drinks it but it hasn't seemed to phase her. My other LO however has taken it 4 times now and does pretty well, but I think she gets a little annoyed sometimes as she would sometimes chew on the nipple with the level IIs...really hard to do without milk coming out at level III. Does it just take a few feeds to get used to? Should I stick with it? My main goal for doing this is to encourage them to take care of the business of drinking their milk, and then they can get up and play. I was feeling like they were so impatient before and hated dragging out a bottle over an hour, especially when I am trying to get a certain amount of ounces in a day and stay on meal schedule. Thoughts or experiences?

I dig your username, by the way - I often tell people that I have 11,000 children (I really have 4) - so I thought you were pretty funny.

It has taken my older children a day or two to transition from Level 2 to Level 3 Dr. Brown's - not sure why because we did not have the same transition between Levels 1 & 2. I'd say stick with it. I think that 10 months+ is old enough to handle the 3. And I agree, speeding up the bottle process is a plus!

I agree with the pp. My twins will be 10 months on Monday and we have been using level 3's for probably 2-3 months now. We started using level 3's for the same reason you are, too. It took both of my LO's several days to kind of get the hang of them, but they did eventually.

Oh thank goodness. I have been trying to figure out your username. Duh. I lived there for 6 years and went to undergrad there. You would think that would have been the first thing to pop into my head. :nea:

Totally agree with the pps. Give it a few days. They will adapt and you will be on your way.

Heh heh...I'm giggling a little that it took you a minute to get there on my username...hee hee. And PP, some days I do feel like I have managed 5000+ children. Anyway, thanks ladies - just making sure this wasn't too forceful of a tactic to get some calories in those girls!

oh, edited to say just for fun I timed my veteran bottle girl. 7 oz in 3 minutes. EEK - she burped and went to sleep. I think I am going to like this.

Oh, sorry...heh heh. I live in Denver, Colorado, the mile high city. A mile is 5280 ft, so my babies were born at 5280 ft...roughly. The term 5280 is used a lot here with business names, there is a 5280 Magazine, etc. So if you live here you hear and see it a lot, and I was too lazy to be creative when I signed up for a screen name. Kind of wished I would have chosen something more personal now...but I am too lazy to change it. :)

A minute? How long have you been a member?? :gah:

Wow, that is fast. But if she isnt uncomfortable, I would stick with it.
