I'm so mad! And upset at myself. Last night we were having company and we were rushing around getting things ready. Well Annabella just woke from a catnap, there was spitup in her ear and I needed to give her a bath. So I got the bath ready for her-she's still in the little tub, but it's in the big tub. So I'm washing her up and I put the soap behind her on the shelf. Next thing I know the shampoo bottle fell down on to her! I thought it missed her but it didn't. :( She wailed and I comforted her. Then I saw that her cheek was bright red an she had a bruise right below her eye. So now she has a black eye! :( Ugh! I wanted to kick myself last night for being so careless!

So note to everyone-make sure there is NOTHING in the tub that can fall onto the kids in the tubs. Can't wait to see what certain family members have to say...

 Meaghan and Annabella  I think we've all done something like that. I still feel awful about the time DS escaped from the gate and tried to crawl down the steps and fell. It was four steps and I learned that quiet is not a good thing in this house

Totally not a bad mommy! Those things happen to all of us at some point or another. And, you hit the nail on the head, the worst part is family and friends unintentional comments that make us feel even worse about it! GAaahhhh!!! I remember one of my DS had a scratch on his nose courtesy of his brother over Christmas, and in one day I think I got about 10 comments about it. Geeessh people! I know it's there, I'm not blind. I already feel horrible, thanks for making it worse!

so sorry! yep, bad things happen all the time!

this week, I was rushing and (still) use the double snap & go stroller w/car carriers for my 20 mo. olds that are 22-24 pounds... anyway, I tipped it over, and they were laying on their sides screaming! thankfully nothing happened, but HOW could I let that happen?!

    just breathe...

I will be providing some stiff competition for the mother of the year award ... we just finished bandaging up one of the twins' thumbs. Because I cut the tip of it off. With nail clippers. AWFUL FEELING!!

Can I add my DH to bad daddy award? I do NOT beat him up for this, BTW, b/c accidents do happen:

Our babies were like 8 days old & getting maybe their 2nd baths at home in the sink, ever. I BF, so I make DH do the baths (10-13xs a day = 1x every other... sure. It'll even out by the time they can use the shampoo, right?) Anyway. He washes Sebastian, 'dips' his face in the water, a bit, gets him out & I just kind of stare at the baby. DH asks "What are you doing?" Me: "Waiting for him to breathe". DH "MOVE!!!" After turning him over & rubbing him for literally 2 seconds, he starts to cry. He's fine but now DH is a little more careful with water on the face in the tub with newborns.

Thanks ladies! I know things happen...you just can't help think to yourself, "if only..."

And if that wasn't bad enough....We went to an indoor play area with the kids and two other families today. My boys were up top crawling through tunnels, but weren't keen on going down the slide. I was under the tunnel telling them to go down the slide. Then I lost sight of them... and then I saw Nicholas' head at the top of a ramp(padded) thing that kids CLIMB up. They could go down maybe one, two, maybe three things safely, then gravity would take over and they would fall. I saw his head and went running to them...and as I turned the corner I saw the two of them on the floor like a sack of potatoes-screaming!

Seriously!?!?!?!? Why me?!?!? Luckily-I don't think anyone saw and I was glad that I was there(albeit a bit late) to comfort them. And thanks to Nicholas' glasses...he now has a nice little bruise under his eye...

I don't think I signed up for this in the, "I want to be a mommy" class!

It's a good thing my kids stay home with me-imagine explaining that to the teachers!?!?!

Don't beat yourself up. As you can tell we've all had things like that happen. My 6 yr. old has a lovely shiner going right now after DH pushed her off of him in a "wrestling match" and she smacked her face into our ottoman. My DS got a set of stitches and his forehead glued (liquid stitches) both within 3-4 weeks of eachother and constantly has battle scars on his face. His teachers just ask "what did you do this time?". I'm afraid someone's going to call on me one of these days.

If it makes you feel any better, a couple of weeks ago, I was getting ready go head out the door with my twins. Makenna is laying on her back in the middle of the big living room floor playing away. I'm carrying my keys and somehow, someway I TOSS the keys. Out of the whole floor, where did they land? On her face! She screamed and screamed and I cried and cried. Within 3 minutes, she had a bruise under her eye and tiny drops of blood. I felt just like you did. It hurt me more than her I think. :-(

Accidents do happen and I'm sure that won't be the last! :-(

Been there :) Two specific times come to mind right now although I know there have been many. DS was pretty brand new and I was carrying him over my should when I innacurately guaged the width of the hallway. I ended up bumping his head on the wall fairly hard.

Another time DH was letting Owen jump on the bed when he was about 2.5. I kept telling them to stop because someone was going to get hurt, and he ended up falling off the bed and into the metal windowsill where he gashed his eyebrow and received 9 stitches.

These things happen-and more than once ;)
