My girls are 8 months now (6 1/2 adjusted) and they REFUSE to drink from their bottle if I'm not holding it. They can hold it somewhat (I'm sure they could really hold it if they wanted to) but they just put it in their mouth and chew on the nipple instead of drinking from it. Same with sippy cups, they won't drink from it they just swing it around and play with it. Any suggestions?

Our guys haven't shown a lot of interest in holding their bottles yet either. They will sometimes clasp their hands around the bottles (and sometimes knock it out of their mouth), but I figure since they are only about 5.5 months adjusted they just aren't ready yet. Hopefully they will figure it out in the next few months though!

My twins are only about 3 weeks older. They only started holding bottles this month.

I was way in over my head one morning,so while they were in there pack in play I just handed them the bottles and laid them down. They are used to falling asleep right after a bottle, so thats what happened. I used the boppys as pillows, less chance for ear infections.

I still enjoy holding and feeding, but now I have a choice if things are out of hand. :FIFblush:

Hmm.. well, my girls are about to eat lunch right now. Maybe I could just give them their bottles while they are in their jumpers? I guess its worth a shot, right?

My two were a bit older when they learned to hold their own bottles, too. And even then, they preferred me to do it. I think it was just what they were accustomed to & they liked sitting in my lap & me feeding them. I bet they will learn soon!

Well, I tried with no success. They just cried until I gave in and held it for them. Its not that big of a deal really, I am just hoping its not a developmental thing, KWIM? Hopefully they learn sometime soon...

Mine are 6 months old and they don't hold bottles yet. They try, but it ends up on the floor and spills, so I much rather hold it for them until they have a bit more control.

Mine didn't start to hold the bottle themselves until 10 - 11 months old.
