twins vs. singleton

Discussion in 'Pregnancy Help' started by scarlett2angels777, Jan 11, 2010.

My first pregnancy (g/g twins) I had complications with contractions and a shortening cervix. I was on Procardia and Brethine for the latter half of my pregnancy and on strict bed rest. What are the odds of having the same issues if I become pregnant again, but with a singleton? Do any of you have a similar experience?

Something to discuss with your doctor but that was one of the first questions I asked when I had my appointment. She said 'highly unlikely" and she was spot on.
Not only did I have no meds & no bedrest I chased my twin toddlers around and carried my singleton to 41w1d!

Well, I had none of those PTL things, but did have pre-E. I was induced at 37 weeks due to it. That being said, my pregnancies with my subsequent singletons were picture perfect health wise. Carried both past my due date and they were over 10lbs.

I, too, had pre-e with my twins and had them at 34.5 weeks ... I am 37 weeks now and still going strong with great blood pressure with this one. I also had two other friends who have been pregnant post-twins ... one was on bedrest d/t short cervix from 24 weeks on with her twins and with her second set of twins the pregnancy went to her term planned C/S. The other, same ... on bedrest from 18 weeks on with the twins and with her second pregnancy, singleton, she had a cerclage but went to term no problems. Sorry I don't have any professional opinion for you but I don't think that you are bound and determined to have a difficult pregnancy! Good luck to you and keep us posted!

I'm now at the date when I had my twins and so far so good. This pregnancy has been so much easier. At times in the second trimester, I swear I forgot I was even pregnant.
