Baby hitting a nerve in my back?

Hi ladies. I'm 14wks and 1dy now with what we think (so far)are Boy Girl fraternal twins. Baby B is on my right and A is low and to the left of my belly button. Both are implanted on the front wall of my uterus.

The last couple days, although I can't officially "feel" them yet, I CAN tell when they shift farther over because I start getting an eggy shaped bump on the right. Yesterday, when B moved as far right as possible, I started getting this horrid pain that feels like a pulled muscle or pinched nerve and it is in the middle of the right half of my back and goes all the way up and down from the middle of my back to my lower back area.

Do you think the baby is laying on a nerve or something? I got up in the middle of the night and almost couldn't stand up the pain was so bad. When I got back into bed, I layed on my left side and as soon as B shifted back to the left, the massive pain went away (not completely, but definitely felt better).

Anyone else dealing with this? I told my husband I can't imagine what it is going to be like when they are 3 to 4 times the size in there...I'll feel like I am breaking in half!!!

Congrats on your twins!!!!! I'm 34 and havig B/G twins too! I haven't experienced this myself, but I know 'sciatic' nerve pain is really common in twin pregnacy (It's a nerve that runs from your back all the way down each leg, see LINK). I started having REALLY bad back pain and pain around my belly button about the same time as you, it got worse around 20 weeks. I found out it was from 'diastasis recti' which is where your abdominal muscles seperate...the back pain is b/c those muscles try to 'make up' for what's not working anymore in the front!

    Hope you feel better soon!

I don't know if this will help but when I was around 15 weeks I had problems laying on my back - you get that feeling of passing out? I thought oh my I'm uncomfortable now how am I going to get through this? but you do. i know laying on your left side is supposed to be the best position for you & your babies - good luck

It definitely hurts worse when I am laying on my back!! I also think as Evemomma said that it could be related to the nerve!! I will be asking my Dr. for sure next Monday!! Thanks for the responses ladies!!
