My dd, in the last month or two, has started spitting up what (this is gross) smells like curdled milk. It isn't foreceful vomiting and isn't a lot but it does get on her clothes and she seems to do it after taking a sippy of milk. We have used the same milk ever since we transitioned them - just whole milk. Do you think it is just a little milk intolerance or does anyone have any other ideas? She doesn't seem to have a fever or act ill, she just does it and then proceeds to play again.

Could be reflux. Does she get a lot of ear infections? That's also a sign of reflux. Doesn't sound like it's really disrupting her life or causing her problems, so I personally wouldn't worry about it. It doesn't hurt to mention it to her doctor though.

did she do it with a bottle or just the cup? if its just the cup probably she swallows to fast and it comes back up again -reflux-its a faster flow in a cup for them then a bottle--

Spitting up (puking) is not generally a sign of an allergy or intolerance. If she developed an allergy, you'd see a red rash around her mouth or diaper area, and you might see swelling around her mouth or face. I'd bring this up to your pedi to see if it might be reflux or something else causing her spit up. Good luck!

Hmmm - she has done it all of her life really, but both of my babies were big in the spit-up department. She has always been one to spit-up sporadically but never seemed to have any of the reflux symptoms (she has only had one ear infection in her life, no back arching after eating, or trouble laying down after eating, etc). I will definitely mention it to my pediatrician - I have picked her up from daycare and she smells like vomit but this morning was one of the few times I actually saw it happen and it was more than I was thinking it normally was. It is just so rancid that I thought it was a tiny bit making her shirt smell, but this was a good amount. Guess I will need to investigate more but Beth, you are right, it doesn't seem to be affecting her negatively so I am going to try not to worry about it.

This is probably a little off topic...

I found out that kids can develop sudden lactose intolerance after getting an intestinal virus. My boys got a virus and had continuous diarrhea and loose stool. I had to give them lactose free milk for about a week, and their system readjusted to regular milk. I'll remember that for the next time they get a stomach bug.
